FRENCH FLAIR My entry for the 1883 Drink Designer contest with @slojo_cocktails Had a lot of fun getting this guy together! 35ml KWV 10yr brandy 10ml 1883 nougat syrup 15ml 1883 yuzu lemon syrup 25ml lime juice 20ml pear juice 20ml pineapple juice 1 dash Angostura bitters Shaken and fine strained into a coupe Garnished with a dehydrated lemon slice The theme of "French Elegance" was a great one to toy with. Nougat, yuzu lemon and brandy all came together like the stripes of a French flag to create an incredible combination on the nose and palate. Nougat, well known as the confectionary of the rich and famous, pairs brilliantly when complimented by some freshly pressed lime and pear to represent the warm, loving embrace of rural farmlands while the juice of only the most elegant of pineapples; the queen, brings silkyness rivaled only by Marie Antoinette's bedding. My entry for the #1883ddcontest in association with #slojococktails The Anniversaire de Cote (Birthday at the Beach) 30ml Zuidam Oude Genever 5ml Absinthe 20ml #1883 Popcorn Syrup 100ml Brut Champagne The inspiration behind the cocktail comes decadence in a strange place and time: drinking a Death in the Afternoon paired with a vanilla sponge cake with butter cream, which, in my imagination would be the ideal afterparty drink at the Cannes Film Festival combining both indulgence and elegance.
