So I was actually going to do preeetty great in 19.3, if it wasn’t for my long arms, short torso, and a long line of inconvenient and uncontrollable situations that arised during the 4 days. At least it wasn’t the fact that i suck at strict hspus, and that I should have spent a lot more time practicing them. So cheers to that!

Brooke was sick this weekend so she wasn’t able to join in on Friday Night Lights. But we came in early this morning and tackled 19.3! I was so excited to show her my idea for the walking lunges! I took 3 35# plates, 3 tech bars, 2 @roguefitness pull straps, and 3 d rings to make this set up. She was able to have a tactile guide while she performed her walking lunges without me having to tell her what direction to travel. It also gave her reference points to the start, midway, and finishing point of 25’. Now, for safety reasons I did help her a few times adjust the dumbbell on her shoulder, we dropped it once and the dumbbell almost fell and hit our legs lol. I had her go to a modified front rack as well so she would have her free hand be able to feel the strap as she lunged. Ultimately she surpassed her expectations! I had her warm up her step ups in case she made it and she said, “oh I don’t think I’ll get to that.” But she transitioned from the lunge right into the step up getting ONE rep! Soooo awesome!!! The third workout of the 2019 @CrossFit Open was a chipper with dumbbell overhead lunges, dumbbell box step-ups, strict handstand push-ups, handstand walks, and a tight 10-minute time cap. Workout 19.3 marked the first appearance of strict handstand push-ups in the Open.
Despite the introduction of a new high-skill movement, an impressive 88,000 men and 25,000 women were able to perform at least one strict handstand push-up.

If someone has seen my arms, I think I left them at the gym...two days ago. What a pump! I was anxiously curious to see how @wheelwod would adapt the movements of 19.3, and they certainly did not let down. Another incredible example as to how @crossfit can be programmed to anyone! As always, I have to thank @comptrain.co for getting me out of the chair everyday. I felt entirely ready for this.
This was about big, yet manageable sets, and just realizing that I had to put the pedal down to get under the time cap. Adaptive or able-bodied give this a try. I’m glad I could #adaptandconquer this one!
