Had a blast reuniting with a car that won us 3 @hsrrace championships last week @sebringraceway It was great to get back to a proper h-pattern, they’re so nostalgic now, sadly. First outing was fun on 3 year old used scrubs in 40 degree weather! With some fresh rubber and 3 years of dust accumulation removed, she was back running flyer’s. The car was for sale for the longest time but I might end up keeping it around for a while now that @malracing1 did a refresh on the motor. Livery is changing over the winter break. I’m thinking old school Brumos colors or a Jägermeister theme to keep it vintage. Should I swap Fuch’s for Minilite’s/Panasports? Post your thoughts!
PORSCHE 914-6 - THE RIGHT CAR AT THE WRONG TIMES . . .
Plan A was for Porsche to design a replacement for the poor selling VW type 34 Karmann Ghia using the 411E four cylinder motor and was to be sold as a VW type 47.
The spinoff for Porsche,the 914-6, was intended to replace the 912 as Porsche's entry level model in the 1970 range and thus to make the Porsche lineup to be all flat 6s with the following costs benefits.
Sales projections were for a total of 30,000 pa with 7,500 being 914-6s.
The result was a four bulkhead shell with sufficient stiffness to easily pass the mandatory crash testing of the time. The fringe benefit was to have a bodyshell equally as stiff as the contemporary 911 coupe. -
