Today’s sentence might look like it doesn’t make sense because the two verbs in it seem to be exactly the same. Read on to find out how you can still make sense of it! . “Es macht einen Unterschied, ob man ein Hindernis umfährt oder umfährt” . “It makes a difference whether you drive around an obstacle or knock it over” . “macht” is a conjugation of the verb “machen” (to make). . “der Unterschied” (difference) . “ob” (whether) is a conjunction which introduces a subordinate clause (German: Nebensatz). . “man” (one / you) . “das Hindernis” (obstacle) . Now we’re at the tricky part! . The first “umfährt” is a conjugation of “umfahren” (to drive around / to bypass). This is an *inseparable verb*. . The second “umfährt” is a conjugation of “umfahren” (to knock over [with a vehicle]). This is a *separable verb* where the prefix is “um” and the suffix “fahren” (to drive). . How on earth can you distinguish “umfahren” and “umfahren” if they’re spelled the same?! . The key is pronunciation and of course context. Listen to the recording that comes with this post and you will hear a difference. . When the emphasis is on the first syllable in “fahren” (or “fährt”), “umfahren” means “to drive around”. . When the emphasis is on “um”, the meaning of “umfahren” is “to knock over”. . Let’s have a look at the following two sentences: → “Er umfährt um das Hindernis” (He drives around the obstacle) → “Er fährt das Hindernis um” (He knocks the obstacle over). . Here you can see that one is separable and the other is not. . The two verbs that we covered today are an extreme example for a pair of tricky words so don’t worry if this is confusing for you! We just wanted to let you know about them because you will most likely encounter these verbs at some point.

Праздник прошел, а мы учимся дальше глаголы, которые хотят после себя определенного падежа, не такого, к которому мы привыкли, даются нелегко, но их правильное использование вполне достигается тренировкой. Нет ничего невозможного! Anrufen требует после себя Akk, и придется ему это предоставить. И не забыть про отделяемую приставку, которая ставится в конце предложения. Er ruft mich/dich/sie an. Он звонит мне/тебе/ей. Ich möchte Sie morgen gerne anrufen. Я хотел бы позвонить Вам завтра. (Gerne не перевожу как "с удовольствием", слишком "сахарно" получится). Du kannst mich am Wochenende anrufen. Ты можешь позвонить мне в выходные. Задание: übersetzen Sie: Позвони мне завтра в 8! Моя бабушка звонит мне каждый вечер и спрашивает, как у меня дела. Моя секретарь позвонит Вам завтра в 10, если Вам это подходит. Есть ещё похожий глагол stören + Akk, я обычно их даю в комплекте, проще учить.
