Check out this bunch of legends and their beautiful Macramé pieces. I’ve had the most wonderful morning hanging out with a sold out beginners class in @thinkthornbury.
I love teaching and seeing the unique ideas my students come up with. I maintain that being a beginner is one of the most exciting places to be in the world. Those initial ‘ahh I got it’ moments are more frequent and the sneaky tricks of Macramé are all the more magic the first time you nail them. Learning with a group of people is also something I really enjoy facilitating. I try and make sure that my classes are a fun and inclusive time for everyone. My past students always seem to comment on how patient I am, which I feel is a really essential skill for me to have when teaching. Of course you’re not going to know all the things I know before coming to the class!! That’s my job, and that’s why I will answer as many questions as you can throw my way, show you how to tie the knots a hundred times and figure out the best way for my students to get the most of of their time with me. There are only a few things I love as much as Macramé and I could talk about it for hours and hours. Also, tying knots never gets boring for me. I could literally do it all day.
After teaching I usually like to go on a date with Josh to @sookiediner to have a piece of pie and gush about all the fun I had teaching. I have recently started joking that my style of teaching is like playing 8 games of chess at the same time because I have to anticipate the different moves and needs of each of my students . Teaching a class without a pattern certainly makes my job as the educator a little bit more challenging but having 8 people with 8 different excellent beginner Macramés to develop and learn from is totally worth it. I’m so excited my Sydney and Adelaide classes at @brickandmortarcreative and @thehappenstore are going online tomorrow morning. Traveling and teaching before my baby comes was something I really wanted to achieve and I’m feeling pretty proud I was able to organise it and lock in the dates before the end of 2018.
Nothing like putting your mind to something and pulling it off!
Much Love, Maggie May
Here she is... I’m going to name this one Holly (because that’s the name of beautiful friend who ordered her @hollyollyollyolly ) I was inspired by @thesoftwild to add the touch of woven teal cotton to the centre. I put a lot of love into this piece and I hope it shows
