The Collections Information team is responsible for creating and consolidating collection records. This can include photographing, measuring and researching the history behind the object. This unique object is the Nelson Bullet. It is the lead shot which killed #AdmiralNelson at the #BattleofTrafalgar on 21st October 1805. Mounted within a glass locket, you can see some of the gold lace from Nelson's epaulette has been fused to the shot. It was kept by William Beatty, the surgeon who attended to Nelson aboard the #HMSVictory. The locket joined the #RoyalCollection in 1842 when it was presented to #QueenVictoria. День 21 октября 1805 года навсегда вписал имя Горацио Нельсона в историю, взамен забрав его жизнь и сделав безутешной прекрасную леди Гамильтон. ⠀ Сражение произошло в 12 милях от берегов мыса Трафальгар. Английский флот вышел из Гибралтара, а французско-испанская коалиция из Кадиса. Я не стану вдаваться в подробности. Исход сражения известен всем. На мыс до сих пор время от времени выбрасывает останки кораблей, как вечное напоминание о давно ушедших днях. ⠀ Когда-то давно, впервые попав в Лондон, я бегом бежала на Трафальгарскую площадь, чтобы отдать дань моему герою и увидеть колонну, увенчанную его статуей в три человеческих роста высотой.
