He’s older now and when we pulled into the parking lot he told me he was not getting out of his car seat because “the hospital is scary.” Can’t blame him one bit. We prayed over and over and I reminded him I was with him. What else is a mama to do? Break my heart wide open. But amazing nurses drew tiger paws everywhere and gave him tiger coloring pages. They were so kind and gentle. One even did crazy dances to make him smile. We had the sweetest doctor and he got to see his two favorite hospital friends (@taylordelynn and @thecaninefetchunit)! We say it every time, and we will until it’s the last, but we’re praying and believing this was the very last tube exchange! So eat, Micah, eat!!!!! Also, this kid is hilarious. I have heard some comments made to single foster parents lately that have made me sad. They are told they shouldn’t consider adoption because they are single. It may be a different family dynamic, but God can still use single people to raise a child and do it well. Any decision to have a family should take great thought and prayer. Let’s encourage and come beside these people who are making these huge sacrificial life choices. #BeTheVillage

Do you work?⠀ ⠀ ANSWER: Yes, I still work full time while I foster. It depends on where you live but some areas offer a daycare voucher that helps cover daycare costs. I am able to have the kids in daycare while I work and this is a big help. I also receive a monthly foster care stipend. This does help with the costs of fostering. It won’t cover everything, but it is a help. We also receive Medicaid for health costs and you can sign up for WIC. I also have a Foster Closet in the area where I can make an appoint and “shop” for clothing and essentials for my foster children. It can be scary to think about how to afford fostering in this single season, but asking your local agency what resources their are in your area would help you know if this is a realistic possibility for you!❤️

The boys are in ultimate clinger stage right now. They always want me. Have to be touching me. Want what I have. And even bang on the door if I’m in the bathroom. Heaven forbid I try to eat something without grabby hands and 4 little eyes staring up at me. I love it and I hate it. I can’t get anything done. Today they were extra needy so we just laid down on my bed and turned on some music. Within minutes they both fell asleep sprawled on top of me. We laid there for 2.5 hours while they slept. I know this phase won’t last. And before I know it they won’t ‘need me’ as much anymore. So the laundry can wait. The dishes aren’t done. And a million other things will get pushed to another day. But today, they needed me. And for that, I am grateful. If you have never seen Ellis ‘not stoked’ then here you go. My smiley little squish wasn’t having it. He’s still the cutest thing, but I’m pretty biased.
