Five of the (to my opinion) most popular sweeteners at the moment. When we look at the macros they don’t differ a lot. Some of these may contain a bit more vitamins and minerals compared to regular table sugar. However this amount is negligible, because you have to consume very high amounts of these sugars to enjoy the benefits of the vitamins and minerals. Besides that, it’s not a great idea to get your minerals and vitamins from sugar.

*FREE SUGARS are those added to foods by the manufacturer, cook or consumer AND sugar present in honey, syrups, fruit juices and fruit juice concentrates. So even sugar 'naturally' present in food are free sugars think of maple syrup, agavesyrup, honey, etcetera. So nope not all ‘natural’ sugars are equal (for example: honey vs. fruit) INTRINSIC SUGARS are found in whole fresh fruits and vegetables.

The conclusion is that honey, maple syrup, coconut sugar and so on are all classified as free sugar. It can definitely be enjoyed, as part of a balanced and varied diet with enough physical activity. All of these have a nice place in my pantry. No food or nutrient is healthy nor unhealthy, it's the overall pattern of food that a person eats what's more important to a healthy diet than focusing on single foods. NO BAKE 5-INGREDIENT GRANOLA BARS
Don’t waste your money on “healthy” granola bars, instead make these easy, no bake and refined sugar free bars!
They are packed with nutrient dense ingredients that will keep you going throughout your day
It’s a great recipe to make during the weekend so you can satisfy your sweet cravings during the week!
INGREDIENTS
▪️1 heaping cup packed dates, pitted
▪️1/4 cup honey/agave syrup
▪️1/4 cup creamy salted natural peanut butter
▪️1 cup unsalted cashews, loosely chopped
▪️1 1/2 cups rolled oats
▪️optional additions: chocolate chips, dried fruit, pumpkin seeds, nuts, banana chips, vanilla, etc
METHOD
▪️Process dates in a food processor until small bits remain (about 1 minute). It should form a "dough" like consistency
▪️Place oats, cashews and dates in a large mixing bowl - set aside.
▪️Warm honey and peanut butter in a small saucepan over low heat. Stir and pour over oat mixture and then mix, breaking up the dates to disperse throughout.
▪️Once thoroughly mixed, transfer to an 8x8-inch baking dish or other small pan lined with plastic wrap or parchment paper so they lift out easily.
▪️Press down firmly until uniformly flattened - I use something flat, like a drinking glass, to press down and really pack the bars, which helps them hold together better. You can sprinkle some pumpkin seeds or any add-in you prefer
▪️Cover with plastic wrap, and let firm up in fridge or freezer for 20-25 minutes
▪️Cut up into squares or bars and enjoy!
