If you want to know more: www.goughisland.com ️ Tristan Albatross (Diomedea dabbenena) with a chick on Tristan da Cunha. Tristan albatrosses are endemic to the islands of the Tristan da Cunha group and more specifically Gough Island. They are monogamous, and do not start breeding until they are about 10 years old. They were formerly threatened by introduced species, rats, cats and pigs, but these have now been removed from their breeding islands. Michelle and @chris_jones_photostory are making this honorable job . . ️ Albatros de Tristan (Diomedea dabbenena) con un pichón en el archipiélago de Tristán da Cunha. Los albatros de Tristan son endémicos de las islas del grupo Tristan da Cunha y, más específicamente, de la isla de Gough. Son monógamas y no comienzan a reproducirse hasta que tienen aproximadamente 10 años. Meet Wisdom, the approximately 68 year-old Laysan albatross who has been returning to her nesting site in Midway Atoll – within #Papahānaumokuākea Marine National Monument – annually to lay her eggs and rear her chicks.
