The ceiling of Kocatepe Mosque, Ankara Turkey
Ankara, the capital of Turkey, is quite an interesting town, very different from bustling #Istanbul.
️ The architecture in the historic center of Altindag, somewhat resembles Ottoman-era houses, with its white facades made either from wood or stone.
️ Apparently, the district is one of the poorest neighborhoods of Ankara. It's a pity to see that most of those cute little houses are crumbling and urgently need renovations.
The best views of Ankara is from one of the walls and fortifications of Ankara Castle.
We loved sitting here and admiring those Ottoman-era-like houses with their red tiled roofs, until a flock of tourists came up
What makes this mansion so unique, apart from being the only mansion of its kind, is that the owner built it incorporating designs and elements of different palaces and mansions all around the Ottoman Empire.

The name of such house in front of me in Turkish is Gecekondu, and means a house put up quickly without proper permissions, a shack.
Despite the fact, I found them quite cute and attractive.
Altindag district is full of those houses. But if you want to see real Ottoman-era lodgings, you need to go to Safranbolu town, located 3hr from Ankara. Unfortunately, we didn’t make it there this time.
Even if the whole world turned upside down, it would still feel normal with you ❣️
