How to address some of the urgent challenges we face in our new urban realities, all while creating more liveable, affordable and sustainable homes?
Together with @space10_journal, today we launch The Urban Village Project, a vision for how to design, build and share our future homes, neighbourhoods and cities.

At the IKEA Democratic Design Days last week, together with @space10_journal we launched the Urban Village Project.
Some of the perks?
The vision would give access to shared facilities and services that keep you close to what you need on a daily basis.
From communal dinners, shared daycare, urban gardening to fitness, groceries, and shared transportation, everything could find room in a modular grid system of sustainably-sourced timber, enabling faster construction and flexibility of use.

The Urban Village Project is envisioned to be made out of sustainably-sourced mass timber—a wood that comes with huge environmental advantages and outperforms steel and concrete on multiple levels.
Mass timber is not only environmentally sustainable, but it also keeps your own wellbeing in check: it’s been found that wood homes help promote better mental health for those who live in them.

Developed in collaboration with @space10_journal, the Urban Village Project would combine private living with shared spaces that enable people to be part of a vibrant community and enjoy a social lifestyle where they live – enabling cross-generational shared living communities in the hearts of our cities.
