Did you know that basking sharks are actually very closely related to great white sharks? They are from the same order, the lamniformes. You can see in this clip with the basker's mouth closed it bears a striking resemblance to its predatory cousin but is completely harmless! Basking sharks can also grow to 12m - double the size of the biggest great white! . . . . This is Duntrune Castle, it’s the oldest inhabited castle in Scotland and owned by the Malcolm clan. There is a great story connected to this castle. It’s said to be haunted by a handless piper and there may be some truth to this story as during renovations of the castle in the 1800’s a handless skeleton was found! #castlesofscotland

The might of the Atlantic Ocean crashing into Saligo Bay on Islay! I love this beach, in fact it’s probably one of my favourite beaches in the whole of Scotland! If you sailed from here you wouldn’t see any land until you reached Newfoundland! The cliffs you are in the background are Sanaigmore cliffs but are sometimes known locally as the sleeping giant!
