My #1 guy, forever and always ♥️ Little Kai gave us a scare this weekend. He had a fever that just would not go down, we tried Panadol and Ibuprofen. He had a fever seizure last year so that added to our worry. Thankfully after 14 hours, and a very long bath, his fever broke and he’s doing so much better now. Being a parent is absolutely the best job in the world, but holy cow it’s scary sometimes too! She still breastfeeds? She still feeds in the night? She still sleeps in bed with you? She’s not in a set routine? She goes to bed late? . Yes. I’m baffled as to how any of these things can ever be seen as negative. Bedtimes in our house go something like this. . We enjoy our evenings together as a family, eating, playing, relaxing. When Raven is tired (could be 7.30, could be 10.30, who cares as long as she’s tired) we go up to bed and read a story altogether. Dean goes downstairs and I cuddle and nurse Raven to sleep. I soak her up, I stroke her hair, I tell her how much I love her. If it’s early I go back downstairs and enjoy an evening with my husband. If it’s late I stay upstairs and enjoy a bedtime with my daughter. If she wakes I respond and nurse her swiftly back to sleep, she helps herself to milk, she snuggles right into me. . 666 bedtimes and never any battles or tears. Acutely aware that I'm nearer to the end of my babywearing days than the beginning. This little turkey who thinks pulling my hair is hilarious (check that cheeky grin) has spent a whole lot of time being dragged along to preschool drop-offs and pick-ups, grocery trips and trampoline parks. His schedule revolved around his brother's activities and he rolled with it like a champ. Thinking about it makes me SO GRATEFUL for the slings that made all those mundane things a little sweeter and let us get our cuddles on the go. I seriously don't know how I would parent two of them without babywearing. Oh also - this new 1.25 is coming next week, how dreamy and creamy!?

What does it mean to me to be a ‘gentle parent’? . It means that I am deeply respectful of my daughters wants and needs. . It means I take the time to try and understand her emotions rather than see them as inconvenience. . It means my love and affection for her is not conditional and based on behaving a certain way. . It means I’m navigating parenting free from a ‘reward or punishment’ mindset. . It means I take the time to immerse myself in her world and see it from her perspective. Something might not be a big deal for me but it’s a big deal for her. . It means I recognise her life is her own little journey. She is not a blank sheet for me to fill, she is a little human for me to guide. . It means I am here to model empathy, compassion and patience. Even in testing moments, especially in testing moments. . I’m certainly not a perfect mother. Every day I just try my best and love with a whole heart. We are doing what works best for us and so far we are all happy and thriving. Who can relate?! Nursing a baby or toddler has it's challenges no matter what their age. At 5 months we are fully in the 'Nosy Parker' phase. Literally every single thing I eat, he stops to have a little nosy and see what I'm doing I had to sit in silence today for his feed and ignore my friend, every time I replied to her he also stopped feeding and looked at me. Was so funny he's so interested in the world around him at the moment, especially what I'm doing!

Big thankyou to all that sent there love to Hazel over the weekend. Despite the rain we had a great few days camping, surrounded by our amazing family. she was well and truly spoilt rotten in the gift department but I think what she really enjoyed was having all her aunties and uncles around fussing over her for three days It’s been a great year and to be honest I can’t even put into words how much we love our girl, she truly is our greatest blessing ❁ #hazelnutturnsone

My heart is seriously constantly exploding by the constant beautiful moments we’re having while on the road. And I keep thinking that if we would have stayed home we’d have missed out on all of this. Don’t get me wrong though - we’re still living a normal life, we still have tricky moments and tough times - and sometimes I wish we wouldn’t have to use a public toilet but it’s so worth stepping out of our comfort zone of being at our home and following our dream. ✨
