Not too sweet, a burst of flavor. The blueberries and a wonderful light whipped cream on top. Ingredients: 2 and 1/2 cups of cake flour 1 cup of sugar 3/4 cup buttermilk 3/4 oil 2 eggs 1/2 tsp salt 2 tsps baking powder 1 tsp Vanilla extract 1 tbsp of lemon zest 1 cup of blueberries Butter and flour your baking pan; an 8 x 8 , or 9 inch pan or a bundt pan if doubled recipe. Preheat oven to 375° F Combine all dry ingredients together. Flour, salt, baking powder. Mix oil and sugar, then beat in eggs, and buttermilk. Add flour mixture and mix well. Add vanilla and lemon zest. Add a tsp of flour to blueberries to coat, then fold blueberries into batter. Pour into prepared pan and bake for 35 to 45 minutes. #ThursdayInspiration “Power” I always hear and was taught that knowledge is power. Being told and advised to get as much knowledge as I could because the people with knowledge have power. It’s true and it’s not true. If you can understand that? There is so much more that goes with that statement. So much more that needed to be understood. Because trust me; if you are a person with a lot of knowledge and your life is still the same; you have not grown or made things better for yourself, your family and others; then something is missing. This is what I have learned and teach my mentees and clients: Knowledge alone is not power. People know a lot of things and do nothing with it. The real power is in APPLYING that knowledge. That is when it becomes wisdom and things start to happen. You can have all the knowledge you want. Be a walking encyclopedia, a Thesaurus; a human computer. But unless you do something with that knowledge, it does no one any good. It changes nothing. It is like having a million dollars in the bank and you do not access it but you have needs that are not being met and those around you are hungry and you tell them you have money but never open your wallet, write a check, or offer to buy them groceries. And the real power? Teaching them how to get their own million dollars and then DOING something with it. Otherwise, what you have is worthless. Apply the knowledge you have gained in order for it to do any good in your lives and the lives of others. Once you begin applying that knowledge, that is when you begin to walk in wisdom. And that, my Beloveds, is power. The ability to make a change; a difference, with what you know and the wisdom to know what to do to keep moving forward. #FridayInspiration "Age Is Just A Number" Some women do not even know, or have never been told just how awesome they are and how much their contributions to this world, to the every day occurrences in life make a world a difference. I encourage you, that if you have a young woman in your life that is moving, growing, and making strides in their lives—let them know how proud you are of them. Shout them out and acknowledge who they are and how much they mean to you. And, how much you appreciate and see their efforts. Encourage them to keep going, to keep dreaming, believing, and working towards their goals, no matter how hard it gets. I do not have a daughter. When I do, I hope she is just like my niece, Nihemah. I am so phenomenally blessed by her life and her light. she may not realize this, but she is a phenomenal young woman with a bright future ahead of her. Though right now things may seem a bit hectic—no fault of her own—she has stepped up to the plate and has been a godsend in so many ways. Her heart is huge, her spirit is bright, and she is so intelligent, and witty. I have witnessed the growth in her in the past five years. From a teenager to a young adult, and I could not be more proud of the woman she is and the contributions she is making to this world. Maybe to her she does not see it as such, however, I see it as everything. There are not too many young women in her position that could have done all that she has done, faced all that she has faced and still come out on top. Nihemah's @sensimilla94 efforts and her hard work have not gone unnoticed. #MYFRIDAYTRUTH™ "Not Without God" There are many things I have tried in my life. There are numerous excursions I have embarked upon during my life's journey. I can honestly say, that every thing; every road traveled and attempted without God, was an absolute failure, but lesson learned. I don't know about you, but I have an intimate relationship with my God. My Creator. My earliest recollection of actually speaking to God, I was three years old. I was looking out my bedroom window when I should have been long asleep. The moon and the stars was a fascination for me. And that night, they were the biggest and brightest I'd ever seen. The moon looked as though I could reach out and touch it. I remember asking the moon was it God? And somewhere in my three year old heart and soul, the moon answered and said: "No, but He created me just like He created you." That night was the beginning of my relationship with God. My desire to know Him, serve Him, walk with Him. A personal relationship. Not the kind I was learning about in Sunday School. But the sincere one on one intimacy with our Creator. Throughout my life I have encountered some very painful and horrific circumstances. Yet, I always felt God with me. Even during those times of rebellion and unrest because I felt God wasn't hearing me or answering my prayers. Yet, in all my experiences--good or bad--one thing is for certain (for me, anyway!) is that without God, I will never be all I should or was created to be. Without God, I am miserable. Without God, the short victories dissipate like dust in the wind. Without God, nothing lasts and each semi-victory is hollow and vanishes like cake in the midst of a hungry person. I can not walk successfully or have victory in my life without God. Not the kind of victory that lasts. Not the kind of success that leaves a legacy for others to build upon. Life without God (for me) is no life at all. It's just filled with fake and phony people. And empty victories that dissipate as soon as they are won. #MYFRIDAYTRUTH™ “Release It” I am excited. And maybe even a little bit overwhelmed if I am being honest. Yet, it does not overshadow the excitement that is bubbling in my soul for what is about to manifest in my life. I have so much to look forward to. Yet, the only way I remember this is when I stop holding hands with regrets. There were a heaviness and uncertainty that I was experiencing. It registered in the form of doubts and even fear. As I prayed and continued to meditate, is was made clear that as I look back over some mistakes and failures, I was holding onto some regrets. Beloved, there is no way you can grab a hold of the blessings and the hand of God when you are still holding hands with regrets. It does not allow you to be free to see what is right in front of you, and where God desires to take you. Release it. Release hold of the regrets. Forgive yourself, as God has already forgiven you. Things don't always go as I planned. But I thank God, they always go as He has spoken. #HAPPYSUNDAY "Live! Live! Live!" The Father has loosed you from your grave clothes. When Jesus was resurrected, you were resurrected with Him. It is time for you to live. To live for Christ. To live your lives. To live it abundantly. To let go of the past along with any regrets, shame, or mistakes. It is a brand new day filled with the promises of God. We have a list of things and ideas that we want to accomplish in our lifetime. But everything will not always line up the way we desire before we start living the life we desire. We just have to begin living out our dreams now. When God is for you and has ordained you, and has blessed you; you do not have to wait for the situation to be just right. All you need is the green light from God, and go forth in faith! Some of us have been waiting a long time for conditions to be the way we desire before we start to live our lives, doing what’s in our hearts to do. Guess what? If you continue to wait for everything to line up just right, you may be waiting for an eternity. Life will pass you by, and you will have nothing but regrets; wishing you would have just taken that first step—that step of faith. Once you start, that is when things begin to fall into place and begin happening, as you desire. The key is to first start. #MYFRIDAYTRUTH "I Got Me" If no one else has me, you better believe that I got me! I have been through some things in my life's journey. Things that forever change a person. Things that make you grow up quick. Things that make you see things a bit differently than everyone else. I cannot be anyone else but me. I cannot walk anyone else's walk but my own. I cannot live another's person's life but my own. And at the end of the day, with as much shade and falseness circulating around us; even amongst our own blood and circle of friends—you better have your own back. You have to learn to be able to pick yourself up. Encourage yourself. Speak words of life and affirmations over your own life! Say to yourself and the atmosphere every day what God says about you. Tell yourself you are the greatest thing walking and mean it! Believe it! I. Got. Me. No one else is going to have your back better than you have your own at the end of the day, other than our Heavenly Creator. And it is He, that has taught me about walking with pride and boldness without being prideful, conceited, or haughty! I humbly submit my life to God; to use my life, as He teaches me to use my gifts and talents. If no one else wants to go with me, then that is okay. Because, I have the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—not to mention a host of heavenly Angels on my side, cheering me on. I cannot wait for someone else to validate me and give me a green light on the dreams and promises God has placed in me, and when He has validated me already. I have to have me. I got to have my back, Because when things hit the fan; when things look like they are not working out' when it looks like you have failed and there is no coming back? Nine times out of ten people will desert you, leaving you alone but if you can encourage yourself, speak the word of God and what He says about you; if you can remind yourself of the visions and the purpose you are on this earth, then YOU WIN!
