Verbascum ‘southern charm’ is a definite winner for me this year

Flower farming is so often a nail-bitiing profession; you spend half your time willing certain plants to come into bloom in time for a wedding or important event and the other half willing others to slow down. Most importantly, ensuring that you have enough 'thriller' flowers as they're called is always tricky. Thriller flowers are the stand-out blooms in a bouquet or arrangement that make it top-notch. Examples include roses, anemones, dahlias, tulips and of course, ranunculus, which are one of the loveliest and longest-lasting of the cut-flowers that we grow. This is a photo of our second/ late crop of Italian ranunculus taken just this evening. These were pre-sprouted and planted outside in March and have performed so much better than I'd ever hoped.
