You know what really grinds my gears? The wonder weeks app. Ugh! There! I said it. Instead of giving mothers an understanding of what’s happening it puts the fear of god into them for what’s to come. Here’s a hot tip. Babies are unpredictable. They MAY or MAY NOT be cranky this week. They MAY or MAY NOT be happy this week. They MAY or MAY NOT do an explosive poo right when you’re changing the nappy. WE DON’T KNOW WHAT’S COMING. Looking ahead on that chart to when you’re due for a holiday to Fiji and then complaining that the baby will be leaping is ridiculous. There’s more of a chance that you will be stressed, waiting for the arrival of said leap, that you stress the baby out and you make the baby unsettled. I understand it helps new mums, I found help from a controversial book (thanks Tizzie, love you) but I’m yet to encounter a Mum that hasn’t read ahead and knows when the sun is out or the clouds are in. I think we’d do better to make a wonder week app that syncs with our partners phone to know when we are due for our period. Would save a few tears and we wouldn’t have to be asked each month if we are due for our period, resulting in a very very cloudy conversation
