17 years ago this month my darling dad passed away. I spent ten of those years as a very unhappy girl.⠀ ⠀ Some of the teachers at school used to call me “smiley” - they didn’t realise that smiling was my way of pushing down the sadness.⠀ ⠀ But it got to a point where I couldn’t keep going like I was.⠀ ⠀ I moved back home with my mum, and started working on myself. I left myself feel the grief for the first time and slowly shed the heavy cloak of sadness numbing me from the world.⠀ ⠀ I started getting to know myself again as “me” and after so many years of spending my energy pushing down the grief, I began feeling more, the world became more colourful - and my resolve got stronger: ⠀ ⠀ I’m not here to settle. ⠀ ⠀ I’m not OK with “OK”.⠀ ⠀ Quitting my job?⠀ ⠀ I can always get another one. ⠀ ⠀ Launching a new business?⠀ ⠀ I don’t have to have it all figured out at get-go.⠀ ⠀ I want to know that I’m giving myself the best shot. To keep thinking bigger, however scary, silly or impossible it seems, and then keep working on it. For me.⠀ ⠀ And now, when I meet people who might seem a little crazy to others, who are running their own race, trying, failing, and trying some more, I know I’ve found my people. ⠀ ⠀ It doesn’t have to make sense to anyone else. You know you couldn’t feel happy if you didn’t give this a go. Keep going, you’re doing amazing - I know that’s what my Dad would say.

I have one rule with yoga and that’s no drunk yoga ! Ever. but something came over me Saturday night around midnight and of course I wanted to do the Bird of Paradise which I haven’t done in forever. Somehow I managed the perfect ‘bird’. I try this morning and it’s just a struggle, even though I got there. Must have been those vodka goggles making me so damn perfect !
