Liking what you see when you look in the mirror comes not from what you wear but how you feel in it. I was terribly afraid of this new trend of culottes (not quite a skirt but not quite pants either) as I thought I’d look stumpy and shapeless in them - that too in the hard to miss silver jumpsuit form. Then I tried them and immediately changed my mind. I styled this culotte jumpsuit with ankle strap pencil feels, long dangles and a bold lip and voila! A hot 1940’s throwback look, high waisted trousers are flattering - and contrary to popular belief, they do look great on more body types than just 6 foot, skinny models. Styling them can be tricky though, so rules of thumb I’ve learned are to pair them with more snug, ‘less blousy’ tops which are short or fitted and tucked in and to buy ones where there’s texture or stripes to lengthen or to throw a long jacket on top. I haven’t pictured them here but shoes I’ve noticed that go really well are anything which will give you height, such as wedges, pumps or chunky platform heels. You can do flats too but I notice shoes with a little height work better with the tricky length which means less alteration or dragging on the ground.

There’s at least twenty different ways to wear a slip dress. Because this one has a fancier fit and is lined with lace, I kept it pretty simple with gold hoops and accented heels for an evening look. You can layer with a T shirt on top, throw on a blazer with panels or tuck in and wear with a variety of skirts. The one thing about these dresses - they are sure not forgiving Due to the satin material, they cling and give more of a defined silhouette than others fabrics.

Wear your Spring and Summer pastel tanks in the fall by pairing them with warm shades such as burgundy on this pair of @levis corduroys. Layering for chilly (but not too chilly) weather with light pieces like a draped vest sweater is sure to keep you clad without adding bulk to your figure. I love this outfit and have gotten so many compliments each time I wear it. The uber cute oxford brogue pumps help immensely!

Doing what I do best But be distracted by the clam chowder and focaccia no more. Check the little ruffles and pearl button details on the wrists of this sweater instead! Come the colder months, I’m always looking for sweaters which are not your basic variety which is precisely why I was so excited when I found this!
