He made himself great. Horace King used bridge-building techniques to design the spiral staircase in the Alabama State Capitol so that a central support was not required.
•
King constructed some of the largest bridges in Georgia, Alabama, and Northeastern Mississippi. By the 1840s King designed and supervised construction of major bridges at Wetumpka, Alabama and Columbus, Mississippi. •
King married Sarah Jane Jones McManus. Also after the war King began to prosper as he worked on the reconstruction of bridges, textile mills, cotton warehouses and public buildings destroyed during the conflict. After passing down the family business to his son, John Thomas King, Horace King was elected as a Republican to the Alabama House of Representatives, serving from 1870 to 1874.

My journey with the Ad Fellows Program has ended. Although it’s bittersweet I’m so grateful for these past 8 months and 4 rotations. My amazing colleagues, mentors, and managers/buddies have helped me develop personally and professionally. I’ve learned so much about myself and how I will truly impact and make a statement upon the marketing and advertising industry. It’s only up from here! #AdFellowGraduation #VZAdFellows

I had a lovely time chatting with the phenomenal Devanne Pena, @archidev, yesterday in our #MnMLiveChats, here were my 3 biggest takeaways from our conversation.
___
1. Do not underestimate your potential, be prepared to grow and find work opportunities that allow you to learn new skills and find mentors that can guide you.
___
2. When you feel like you aren't growing anymore in your current position, leave. Do not be comfortable with stagnancy and the status quo.
___
3. Take control of your career, but don't stress that you're not in the ideal position you want yet. All great things start small. Build. Build. Build.
