Harvesting these beauties at the moment. They are all grown outside and have enjoyed the warm (and wet) of recent days and are now coming into their own. I find I’m always drawn to the deeper darker shades they make me feel naughty (in a burlesque way) and remind me of crushed antique velvet . Such a change in the weather today but as they say, ‘Change is the only constant in life’, there to be embraced and settled into . Happy changeable floral Friday everyone .
I would like to start this week to thank you all for your support since 2017I don't often take the time to look back on what we have achieved so far but I felt like it was about time this morning ☀️: our products are now sold in more than 1100 shops across Europe, we have 11 different products under our brand or for private label. We built our own production facility in the south of brussels and we are a joyful team of 6 people ! Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined to go this far when I embarked on this crazy adventure 3 years ago. My goal was to produce healthy and delicious snacks to eat on-the-go and make it available to the most people possible The fewer ingredients, the better. And a very clean ingredient list, only natural ingredients. Transparency is key, we even share our recipes with you on our website!
Once again thank you to all of you for the energy & support you give us by following this space ! New exciting projects to be shared soon
How to forage:

Going for a walk in the park behind our house is one of my favourite things to do. I never get tired of it, because every time we go it's different. The seasons change and there are always new plants and flowers popping up in unexpected places. I always take my secateurs, and hardly ever come home empty-handed. But I only ever cut plants that are abundant and thriving, and I always cut with the intention of giving the plant a better form, like pruning. I want to be able to harvest again and again, without taking away from the beauty of the place that so many people enjoy. This old habit of mine holds fast, learnt from growing up in New Zealand. When I was at high school we learnt traditional Maori weaving, and that starts from cutting the Harakeke, or flax, in the correct way and sending out a little karakia (prayer) thanking the plant afterwards. And all the scraps get returned to the base of the plant they were taken from. Nothing is taken for granted, nothing is wasted. Mana Whenua. Good habits to learn. So I only take what I need and always thank the plant I cut from. Even if the joggers and dog walkers look at me funny. .
Droopy stuff, weeds and textures all foraged from the park. Locally grown flowers.

HOUSE OF FLOWERS
Without a doubt this is my favourite time of year for flowers. There are so many gorgeous ones around right now, from lacy, fragrant sweet peas to frilly, explosive peonies and delicate drooping aquilegia (a new fave). They bring so much life and softness to a space, particularly in a stark modern one like ours. One day my dream is to grow cut flowers in my own garden or allotment and be able to wander out and snip them into vases and makeshift arrangements, but for now I’m lucky to know brilliant florists like @stilllifeflowers...

So many changes occur across America when summer comes to a close and a new school year takes its place. Stores are packed with families and grade-level “to-buy” lists, photos of letter boards can be seen with proud smiling faces as kids enter a new grade, newly selected lunchboxes and backpacks are filled, alarm clocks are set and the routines begin, teachers create and prep classrooms with fresh new Pinterest ideas and an anticipation of meeting new students that will walk through their door. College dorm rooms are full of students setting up a new home away from home and teary-eyed parents begin a different life after saying goodbye to them.
It is almost as if there is a collective sigh of relief throughout our schools campuses and homes when we make it through that first day.
For those of you that are beyond the fresh new first days and firsts,
For those of you running around getting shopping or classrooms prepped for that first day,
For those of you who might not have kids in your home, but see it all around you,
For those that have dropped off college students,
And, for those that make it all work within our elementary, middle, and high schools, colleges, and home schools-Thank you!
Blessings to you as you begin this new school year.
