The cocktailbest known for being ordered “shaken not stirred” was invented by none other than Bond author Ian Fleming. The Vesper first appeared in his book “Casino Royale,” ♠️♥️♦️♣️which was published in 1953 and gets its name from fictional double agent Vesper Lynd. When Bond‍ orders the Vesper, it comes with strict instructions that must be followed by any who make it: “Three measures of Gordon’s, one of vodka, half a measure of Kina Lillet. Shake it very well until it’s ice-cold, then add a large thin slice of lemon peel. Got it?” While some might claim that shaking will “bruise the gin” or have an adverse effect on the drink, when making a Vesper, it’s best to follow the original instructions. Combining Norway's newest Soft Drink Producer (ASK) It tonic with Star of Bombay - a Go to Gin for that Orange flavor. This tonic is not for the faint of bitterness. Packs in a good punch of quinine taste and bitterness and slightly floral. It's also less sweet than your usual suspect Indian Tonic. Star of Bombay - Bergamot Oranges and Ecuadorian Hibiscus add a very nice touch to the otherwise less crafty Bombay Sapphire gin. . Funny story about the tonic. A guy once showed up with a box full of these tonics having flown in from Norway. It reeked, and was wet and box was warm like a pizza box....5 bottles did not survive the journey and broke. Customs were nice enough to put the broken pieces in a plastic bag. Hence the shape of the label on the tonic. Best part though was my near death experience. A bottle popped because of the heat and journey in my hand a few cms away from my face. Could have been worse..... "The death of the Gintonicologist by a Tonic".
