Normal People was something completely different. Sally Rooney, the author, is very young and with her second book I think comes even more in to herself as a writer. The story is about two young teenagers that meet and their relationship and all the relationships they have along the path in their lives through high school and college. The writing is not profound, the story is not a perfect happily-ever-after, but it is weighted more in real life. The story flows well and reminded me of being much younger and the thoughts and actions of when I was in high school. When some decisions seemed so important but then years later realizing that it was ok and honestly most people don’t care what choices you make in your own life. All those insecurities we held so tightly to. . Connell’s mother works as a cleaning lady for Marianne’s family. Connell is popular and Marianne is not.
