The left picture came up on my Facebook memories from 2 years ago, I remember thinking, wow, my teeth are getting so much better. Now I look at it and think wow look how huge my open bite and how crazy my crosse bite was. Brace Yourselves #2YearsLater • • ‍♀️Major Brace Reflections: • When the wire at the back slips out, and you can’t help but play with it, until it cuts you. • Crying as you pass by the candy stores...but going in anyway, to purchase caramel chocolates. • Leaving track-marks on pizza, sandwiches, etc. • When it feels like you have an entire four course meal stuck in the back of your mouth. • Having to answer people, when they ask, “OMG, do you have braces on ?” No, Bob, I’m eating staples... • Looking like an awkward 13 year old...actually, scratch it, this might still be true. • Not realizing you have pieces of food stuck in the front brackets of your mouth. • Snapping rubber bands on your face (and family members), when you’re putting them into your bracket hooks. • People telling you, you can’t chew gum, but you chew it anyway, and regret it when it gets stuck between your wires (but you casually try to get it out with your tongue). • Getting your braces tightened, and speaking with a lisp. • Teaching students with braces on (surprisingly, this was how some of my students and I bonded). • Speaking with other adults, and them belittling you because of braces. • • #Braces #BraceFace #BraceJourney #Teeth #Orthodontist #Smile

One of the few photos of me smiling when wearing ceramic braces. . I’ve finally gotten them off and it’s such a relief . . I found wearing braces so annoying, it was painful and difficult to eat, with food always getting stuck everywhere . Because they were ceramic I really had to be careful with what I had to eat, as the ligatures get stained, giving you pretty yellow teeth . Very hard being vegan and staying away from tomatoes, carrots, berries etc. . Then there are the elastics going from upper jaw to lower jaw, and yes you have to wear them all day except from when you eat... I have to admit it made me feel so self concious . . Now I can finally eat whatever I want, and brushing my teeth is way faster, and so is flossing . . I am happy with the result, but most of all I’m relieved it’s over . . So orthodontist today, had my final moulds taken for the surgeon and I’ve had my elastics changes to metal ones ready for surgery, they do the same thing just more durables they won’t break as no orthodontist appointment now til mid August!
