A bottle of the very rare Macallan-60 year old-1926, with a label designed by the eminent, internationally acclaimed, British pop artist Sir Peter Blake, will lead our Whisky sale in Edinburgh on Wednesday 6 March, carrying an estimated of £500,000-700,000. The whisky lay at Macallan for over 60 years in an oaken cask brought from Jerez, before it was bottled in 1986. I rarely post photos that I haven’t taken myself but this I have to share, by one of my all-time favourite artists. David Hockney’s ‘The Queen’s Window’ in Westminster Abbey is now unveiled and it is stunning. The window, a “landscape full of blossom that's a celebration every year” was designed on an iPad by the artist and made by York-based Barley Studio. ‘Hello - I love you.’. Always loved that song and was equally taken with this artwork by Peter Blake that is on display at @albionhouseramsgate where we stayed briefly this weekend. British Pop artist Blake was responsible for the legendary Beatles album cover ‘Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’. The hotel interiors are impressive - they have made the most of the incredible original features of this amazing building. Worth popping in for cocktails which are excellent.
