I’m going to be honest - Instagram is HARD. I love photography and sharing my work, but I go through seasons where actually posting it scares the shit out of me. What is it - imposter syndrome? Comparison to my peers? The permanence of the internet? I think it’s all of those things. But I think what it really comes down to for me is this: the pressure to define my identity. What color palette expresses your style? Is your feed consistent? And, most importantly, are you putting out the most genuine version of yourself as a creator into the world? These questions are difficult for me to answer. Why? Because sometimes, I just don’t know.

Photography has brought so much more joy and creativity into my life than I ever could have imagined, but in the social media age we live in it’s easy to lose sight of what’s important. There are so many things I want to do with my photography (portraiture! travel! events! touring!), and I don’t want to restrict my potential trying to make myself fit neatly into these little algorithm-controlled squares.I want to explore my creativity and share it with you as authentically as I can, because I truly believe in the power and beauty of genuine connection through community. And I think it’s safe to say that process is bound to be messy! This is what I have tasked myself with, and I hope you’ll stick around for the ride. I can’t wait to start sharing the work I’ve been holding onto for the past few months.

A few weeks ago I was approved to shoot @anderson._paak’s concert at Madison Square Garden - my first arena show ever. It felt like a huge milestone. I kept asking myself, “How did I get here?” I took this picture so I wouldn’t have to pinch myself later. And it’s moments like these that keep me going. Moments like these that remind me that, in reality, I am just getting started.
