I used to think that filming under super cloudy skies was the best because it was the world's natural softbox for the brightest light we could ever have. But nowadays, I find it super flat and unappealing to work with. Everything looks too gray and dull and there's no life to the image. Maybe it's just me

One of the best ways to build up your portfolio is by doing low budget or even free work. I know that may seem like an unappetizing idea at first but if you don't have any work to show for, no one is going to hire you to do anything for them. More importantly, if you're new to this field, you need to gain the experience of shooting for a client and the back end workflow of editing and delivering. It's a super important aspect that most people gloss over
A lot of people think that just because we are freelancing, it means that we're free to do whatever we want to. In reality, we actually have to work even harder and more often because we constantly have to keep searching for clients while at the same time working on projects that we've shot already. While we technically can go out every day, you'll more often-than-not find us at home furiously writing emails, DMs, or editing ♂️
Editing is probably the most important part of your workflow that determines if your videos or photos is good or not. It doesn't really matter if you have really beautiful shots or if you had some cool locations to shoot at. If you stitch them together in a way that isn't cohesive or the colors are wayyy too saturated or unnatural, then it doesn't work

One method that I used when I first started out was to compare my work against professionals in my field and tried to match my editing to theirs. After I got better, I learned to develop my own style of editing. Really important master the art of the edit
I'm constantly critiquing my work and seeing how I could have shot, edited, or color graded my footage even better or in a more fitting way. I never want to stay stagnant in my improvement. Some of my favorite content creators are always switching up their style, adding in new techniques in their workflow to make their films better each time
With the promise of an interesting sunset I made my way down to Crohy Sea Arch. Climbing down the hill I wasn’t sure what to expect. It’s a difficult climb but I found a well walked path down to the beach. There’s something magical that happens to water in two and a half seconds. •
