28 - [ CHIMERA ]
First of all, apologies for not really being active in the last days and for the delayed entry. I'll do my best to catch up with everything tomorrow. Now, as far as the entry goes: if you have strong feelings towards drawing various animal parts such as fur, scales, wings and feathers - give this one a try. I guarantee you won't be disappointed. After the last entry I wanted to give this one a little more time and attention. So, please enjoy and have a great time of the day. Peace.
Day 8 - [ ROMPO ]
Today we have another chimeric cryptid, with seemingly weird combination of features - hare's head, human ears, badger's forelegs, and hind ones that of a bear. Sounds weird enough until you realize that the creature was, most likely, inspired by a large and sickly looking porcupine. So, this is what I went for and ended up with this charming little fellow. Thanks for stopping by, people and have an awesome week start. Or, at least, a tolerable one. Peace.
Day 30 - [ DULLAHAN ]
This is it - the long overdue final entry. I've decided to settle on a Dullahan - apparition of an Irish origin, mostly known as The Headless Horseman. But since there has been plethora of horses and various horse parts already, I've went with the second depiction of the legendary spirit, which is a possessed/animated set of armour. After month and a half of drawing fleshy, hairy, scaly, feathery things of all sorts, it was quite refreshing to draw something different in nature. And it was a good transitory opportunity to tune back into my regular "stuff", in a manner of speaking. I've also thrown in negative version of it, just for the sake of it. All in all, F&F challenge turned out to be quite an experience. Many mistakes were made. A lot of things has been learned. Lots of frustration and tremendous amount of fun, going hand in hand. I've discovered a number of great artist, and have been thoroughly enjoying entries from the wonderfully creative people I already knew. This was the first prolonged art challenge that I've taken seriously, and what a memorable endeavour it was. So, once again, thank you very much @custombysophy for hosting the event. And thank you, people - for sticking around, for being supportive and patient with my arse. I have the utmost gratitude to all of you. Now I can finally take a breath, and move onwards, making something out of myself with this whole " art" thing.
Day 24 - [ CERBERUS ]
Where do I begin with this one... First of all, this was supposed to be just an experiment/test of figuring out how to use accents and highlights. Naturally, things got out of hand. I have no idea how I feel about this, but I'm glad it's over. Second - today is the last day of the Folklore & Fairytales challenge. And while I failed spectacularly my personal goal of keeping up with the schedule, participating in this event was an invaluable experience. For many, many different reasons. So, I wanted to thank @custombysophy for hosting this wonderful ordeal, and everyone, who's been making my days better with their marvelous creatures. With that been said, I still have 6 more entries left, so, bonus week for me. Also, due to severe lack of time, caused by drawing weird dogs, covered in red paint, I've been unable to keep up with everyone's posts and messages recently. So, my apologies for that and I'll try to regain momentum in the next day or so. Thanks, folks. Have a great... whatever time of day you're having at the moment. Peace.
Day 16 - [ GASHADOKURO ]
A giant skeleton today. With a graveyard on it's back. Since this creature supposed to be a manifestation of restless spirits, who's mortal shells weren't buried properly, I've decided to make things a bit more cozy for them. I've also missed the upload yesterday, but let's just pretend that didn't happen. So, to the next one. Have a wonderful time of day, people. Peace.
Day 11 - [ TYPHON ]
A really quick quickie today, as I am trying to catch up with the schedule. Since this old greek guy is really stacked with all the snakes and details going on, I've decided to do something that works just with contrast and saves me heaps of time. Already working on the next one, and hopefully the next entries will be more interesting. Thanks, everyone. And have a jolly weekend.
Day 19 - [ REDCAP ]
The one and only creature on the list, who's distinctive feature is a goddamn hat colour. Therefore, I just had to throw some crimson hue into this one. I honestly have no idea where I was going with the design. But hey, you try to make cheeky goblin highwayman into something presentable. Beside that, have a great day, people. See you tomorrow with a new one... hopefully.
Day 13 [ CHUPACABRA ]
This entry is a tad less charming and elegant, than the previous one. Since it supposed to be a cattle vampire and all, I wanted to turn the design into sort of a hybrid between an actual vampire bat and some spiky alien thing. All in all, acceptable linework practice with almost no stippling. Speaking of which, I believe I've figured out the best thing about the stippling - it makes me a happier person when I am not doing it. But since I've already crossed the line of no return, more stippling to come in the future. Thanks, and stay awesome, folks.
Day 4 - [ LUSCA ]
Quite a specimen today, for sure. Definitely one of the most unique and unusual creatures on the list. I wanted to practice some dotwork during this challenge, so this thing has fell victim to such inclination. Was it a good idea? Absolutely not. Will I do more of it during the event? Probably yes. But whatever the case, thank you, people. For all the support and feedback. Cheers.
