It’s all about crispy wreaths today. Very messy business!
Huge thanks to @the_old_garages for hosting this weeks wreath workshops and all the lovely people who joined us.. & big shout out to Alice for being a top helper! I love the way everyone’s wreaths were totally different, even though they all had access to the same ingredients...although, one lady was going home to put sprouts in hers...I had neglected to provide sprouts!
Today was alright ya know! No honestly I’ve been waiting for the wedding for over a year! Congratulations Jess + Stuart thank you for having perfect style and totally getting what I do @holmesmill_

Flowers retrieved from the wedding takedown! Plus a few tulips from the garden.
I'm thinking this May is going to be a good one on the garden front, with an opportunity to plant (and therefore see behind the scenes) at Chelsea in the next couple of weeks and a trip to Cambo at the end of the month...woohoo!!

What do you wear? I mean when you’re planting what you’re growing? When you’re cutting? Even when you’re arranging your beautiful British flowers? It’s something I’m getting curious about and not just from a practical perspective. More often than not I’ve got my apron on. I’m a huge fan. In fact I love it. A habit adopted from my Nana, more often than not you’ll find me wearing one from dawn to dusk. Not only does it keeps everything underneath clean, the pockets are voluminous and fabulous for storing stuff! I am a slightly messy worker truth be told. A hat is that other absolutely necessary item for me. I love them and not only because they are a practical way to shade yourself while out in all weathers. They’re also excellent for hiding under, especially if like me you’re seeking to hide your messy coiffure, an often natural state for me. Steel toe capped boots outside and clogs inside are other essential items. Frankly I like my feet safe and completely comfortable, call me old fashioned. Oh and if I could find some of those lovely arm sleeves that would stop anything biting or dripping along my arm I’d buy them too. Gloves are an aspiration. Honestly, I’m always taking them off to feel the earth and my seedlings better.
What attire brings out your best creative side?
I know everyone is obsessing about the weather at the moment but I confess I’m obsessing about something else.......

The fact of the matter is I’m going to be giving a talk and demonstration in a few weeks time at the lovely Nantwich Flower Club. I am feeling fine about the talking. It’s one of the things that I did a lot in my previous career. Demonstrating how to spiral a hand tied bouquet with British flowers like the one in the picture is something I’m fine about too.
The issue? Speaking and creating at the same time seems to be something my little brain is still finding difficult. It’s not that yours truly can’t multitask. I am a dab hand at it. Planning out my day can be done quite easily while doing something menial like chopping the vegetables for the soup.
But the creative act seems to absorb a lot of my little processor. So much so, there’s not too much bandwidth left for the chattering part.
I’d be fascinated to hear if you find talking and creating simultaneously hard too. Or perhaps it’s just little old me?
