What to drink on this warm, partially sunny day? I wanted green tea, but not really green tea. I wasn’t in the mood for bright and grassy, or mellow and nutty. Or just straight up vegetal. I decided to finish up a sample of Anhui yellow from @inpursuitoftea. It’s giving me vegetal flavors, but more like grilled asparagus- a bit concentrated and roasty. Just what I needed to get through the afternoon.

Cai of Nannuo Mountain 南糯山picking Gu Shu Cha 古樹茶, Ancient Tree Tea. Tea trees are like vampires - the older they are, the more powerful they are. Bouquet: Within its dry crispy stage ahead everything lies under the sign of Hazelnut cream, pistachio ice cream & roasted pumpkinseeds plus a fine slightly sour layer. Steaming hot and even more aromatic a distinct bamboo basket/bamboo leaf Heicha aka young Liu An atmosphere mixed with the former steaming roasted aspect of hazelnut cream plus the sour note to it is impregnating the air around the tea table.
Liquor: Taste-wise first and foremost it's intensely creamy with an instant hazelnut entrance but also a certain minty chocolatey feel to it a bit like After Eight. There is definitely no fruitiness to it maybe just a tiny hint of raisins if you focus your tasting bugs to it but majorly a wide range of nuts within their roasted form are playing the main parts here. Beside Hazelnut you may also discover layers of walnuts and pistachios within the same realm. The Liquor is lovely and really instantly lovable from the first moment it pleases your tongue and tasting buds. Even for a 3 times roast it never tastes too over roasted. Each moment is very pleasant and after the 4th infusion lighter and generally very soothing and relaxing. Comparing it with the 1 time roast I have to admit I prefer that one a bit more but this doesn't mean that this fellow here was not as good - its clearly different but in a highly enjoyable way I only got my preferences as we all do ~ So Cheers everybody & may amazing tea be with you!

Chai Shao's hand-painted tea cup works of the Chinese zodiac are made by hand drawing. Jingdezhen high-white mud tire is made by grinding glaze with natural minerals, and fired by reducing flame at 1320 degrees high temperature to form kiln-transformed ceramic tire. Then, according to the effect of natural kiln, the kiln-transformed ceramic tire is painted on the glaze of Chinese painting and fired at 800 degrees into the kiln. The kiln glaze is transformed into a thick and moist glaze or a color like red flame or orange peel and brown eyes like scales, so each work is a unique orphan.
Chai Shao is an ancient method of making ceramics. It is a complex technological process that makes full use of the high temperature produced by natural firewood combustion and makes the ceramic body ceramized. Chai Shao is very difficult to make porcelain. The success of the work depends on the close cooperation among earth, fire, firewood and kiln.
Its charm is that in the process of firing, glaze will change in different colors with the temperature of the furnace, and the texture of each color is unpredictable.
