We buy about 60 pieces of clothing per year and only wear each piece 7-10 times. The industry pushes us to buy more, to buy new clothes every season and for this offers fashion to extremely low prices. The costs for our clothes are paid by someone else. They are paid by the environment and the garment workers. It is past time that we need to find alternatives to the "make-buy-use-dispose" model. There is a need for business models that encourage durability, lease, repair, lending or reselling. It is already increasingly acknowledged, even by the industry that fashion needs to apply ecological thinking. New innovative ideas are developed that refuse the growth and consumption model that still dominates fashion today. Sustainably on the whole supply chain is necessary. There are some initiatives like Circular design thinking, Upcycling, Online-marketplaces for used products, Purchasing according to need or Alternative fashion calendar, which are closing the loop!
