#Repost @deathbyvlog ・・・ Our most ignorant google search yet: “Candy cane looking building in Sri Lanka” Found it though! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ When we arrived at Jami Ul-Afar Mosque, we were in absolute awe of its unique design and architecture. Nestled in a busy market street in Colombo’s capital city lies this massive structure which just happens to be Colombo’s oldest Mosque. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The second we saw pictures of this place we knew we had to find it. When we arrived, to our surprise we were only able to see a very small courtyard of the mosque while the rest was reserved for locals at prayer. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Although we were a little disappointed we couldn’t explore more of the grounds, there is something really special about a place that doesn’t fold to tourism. I think sites like that are few and far between these days.. so it was nice to see so much of this building reserved for its original intention. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ We have so many more travel photos to share it feels like we will never run out! Also, while we are here in Philly waiting for summer it’s nice to relive these warm, tropical days. Searching for breakfast at the Nine Arches bridge. Top tip don’t go to Nine Arches straight after climbing up Little Adams Peak for sunrise you will STARVE! But it was great, and it is kind of on the way..... and then you walk along the train tracks back to Ella and eat your body weight in pancakes. On another note ITS MY BIRTHDAY!!!! Thanks @gretastravels for waking me up at midnight to remind me!!!!

As it’s Friday (purely for historical reasons) I thought it might be a good idea to have a few... Actually, that’s a lie - it’s also for medicinal reasons too! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ The quinine in tonic water was a preventative & curative treatment for malaria which is how Gin & Tonic came about. Even though Sri Lanka was declared malaria free in 2016 I always think it’s best to be on the safe side don’t you think ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ You can buy more than 2 G&Ts at the bar here for the price of one in a pub in those ‘gentrified’ bits of East London like Shoreditch. & if you’re really tight like me, you can then go back to your room, get a bucket of ice completely free from room service & open the bottle of Bombay Sapphire you got from the duty free in Heathrow to go with the tonic water from the supermarket. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ Then you can watch the sun go down over the Indian Ocean from your balcony whilst performing a selfless public service of keeping malaria under control!!!
