The future of print looks exciting. Creative studio Masquespacio designed the first flagship store of @cuadernosrubio, a Spanish publisher of educational books, in Valencia. The agency's founders @masquespacio_ana and @masquespacio_chris chose small white tiles for floors and walls as a backdrop for the stations divided by transparent acrylic panels in vivid colours. Drama in the restrooms: For the @pur_barcelona restaurant in the Catalan capital, studio @lagranja_design came up with a bold scheme for an area which too often is only an afterthought. Choosing bold red tubular steel, white marble and brass taps, they've induced glamorous to a very utilitarian space. Paper artist @littlerayofsunflower designed the fun wallpaper motives in collaboration with @ingridpicanyolstudio, inspired by the dishes cooked up by chef @nandujubany_oficial. Upstairs in the dining area, the design team opted for a more neutral colour and material palette so that the focus of attention becomes the open kitchen. by @salvalopez

This spectacular steel staircase stretches through the 8.5 meter high space of the recently completed Chimney House in Copenhagen. Fitted throughout with products by Danish brand @vipp, it's the companies third hospitality space offering a temporary home for up to four guests. The house, a former water pumping station from 1902, was transformed by @studiodavidthulstrup into a contemporary, light-filled space featuring arch-shaped doors and windows, grey terrazzo flooring and skylights through which you can see the 35-meter tall chimney.

A calm space for caffeine kicks: Located in the suburbs of the South Korean town Cheongju, architecture firm @atmoround_official designed the serene @ilil_coffee. Their aim was to create a sense of home for the guests by building zones that resemble residential living and dining areas. Thanks to floor-to-ceiling glass windows, the concrete walls and floor feel surprisingly light, while gravel stones, bright wood and greenery bring nature inside. by @vdpwj for @atmoround_official

Paradise in Porto: guests of the recently opened Torel 1884 step into a world evoking a long-gone era of grand hotels in sub-tropical destinations. Its restaurant @bartolomeu_bistro is a wonderful lush, green jungle featuring an elegant bar cladded with cane. The material reappears in the shades of the wall lights as well as in the dining chairs’ backrests, while dark woods, green stone and linen bring in a sense of nature. This theme of old-world extravagance and textural playfulness, which interiors studio @nan0design created for the 19th-century palace, continues throughout the 12 suites and apartments as well as in the common areas such as the spectacular main staircase.

Burl is back! We not only see this type of wood reappear in furniture design - as seen in Apparatus' latest furniture collection - but also interior designers show a new interest in the material. Polish @buck.studio recently completed the new @opaslytom.kregliccy restaurant and fitted out large parts of the space with poplar burl, covering walls as well as furniture. With its irregular pattern, the eye-catching grain is not an easy material to work with, but here in combination with a bold modern colour scheme, a hint of industrial style (the orange powder-coated metal details) and the room's high ceilings it feels absolutely contemporary. by @pionfotografia

A very warm welcome offers the recently opened @sistercitynyc hotel in New York City, the latest hospitality project by Atelier Ace which also operates @acehotel. Choosing plenty of bright woods, the team created a calming interior which unites a pared-back look with a sensual tactility. All its spaces feel grounded and smart at once: in the lobby area, birch timbers are elevated by stained glass skylights and ribbed glass partitions. The 200 guest rooms continue this sensual minimalism, where black terrazzo and paper light shades complement the custom-made joinery made from cherry and ash. On top of the building sits the Last Light cocktail bar with soft velvets and dark leather upholstery elevating the wood-cladded ceiling. by @a_gaut

@marni is stepping it up in Japan: The Italian fashion brand's new flagship destination in Tokyo is a wonderful composition of colours - featuring a staircase made with different types of marble as the absolute highlight. Throughout, curved lines inspired by traditional Japanese garden landscapes define the space while a mix in floor materials such as concrete, herringbone parquet and marble outlines the shop's different areas.

Coffee-colours for caffeine lovers: In Odessa, Ukrainian studio @sivakpartners created an energetic and simultaneously calming interior for the coffee shop ‘Daily’. In the front room, beige and brown hues dominate the space while the black metal lighting as well as the greenery installation bring in some contrast. The mood shifts drastically in the back room, which was conceived as a space to retract from the buzz around the bar: the team opted for dark red walls, black furniture and less daylight to create a calming, almost cocooning atmosphere. by @garets.interior
