Ever since I first heard about the theremin, I've been fascinated by the instrument. Over the past few months, I've become obsessed with learning more about it (especially any repertoire involving the clarinet). My theremin-mania comes at the right time, since it's currently the 100th anniversary of the instrument's invention! Thanks to the power of social media, I've "met" @charlietheremin who has introduced me to other musicians within the theremin and ondes community. This is how I met @gblanc118 who helped me cross a huge item off my bucket list - to "learn" the theremin. I have a pretty important audition coming so this next week should be a very intense one. The last couple of months I’ve been preparing myself technically and working on my repertoire but this last week will be focussing more on preparing myself mentally and working on performance. • Today I spent lots of time on the 2nd movement of the Ibert and in particular eliminating as much key noise as possible. Wouldn’t want to spoil that lovely tune with some noisy saxophone keys!! • Anyway, as I’ve not uploaded very much recently I’m going to try and put a few more videos out this week with a focus on performance and character. Generally I get the feedback that I’m a bit too intense so special focus is going to be bringing out some lighter aspects of the music I’m playing.
