DO THREADLIFTS ACTUALLY WORK Threadlifts are by no means new, but they are having a bit of a moment right now. People say they lift, they tighten, they pull... but as you can see in this video, they are no match for the heaviness of tissue. Threads contain tiny perpendicularly oriented barbs that are supposed to gain purchase in the tissue in order to lift it. In my opinion, threadlifts are not a good idea, and patients would be better served by either injectable fillers for volume loss or surgical facelifts for lifting. My concerns with threadlifts are: 1️⃣- they lack the ability to lift tissue in a sustained way (they pull right through as I am showing here), 2️⃣- they disintegrate at different rates and can create asymmetry, 3️⃣- tethering and pleating of the skin is often visible, 4️⃣- extrusion or erosion through the skin is problematic and a nidus for infection, and 5️⃣- any results you may initially see are extremely short lived. To put it in perspective, many deep muscular stitches and excision of several centimeters of skin are needed for a surgical facelift, and most facelift surgeons do not offer threadlifts.
