In between the niece’s softball games - they won the Wisconsin state championships, if you must know - we hit up @cafehollander for some brews and foodles. This local group of Belgian- and Dutch-inspired restaurants and cafes, as well as their own @lowlandsgrandcafes brewery brand - comes super-hard with the beer list. I started off with a Fruit Punch Fantasy Factory IPA by @karben4brewing, as it was on the local-ish ‘exclusives and rarities’ part of the menu. It was my first @karben4brewing beer, and while the flavors were solid, it was too slightly sour for my taste. It’s not labeled as a sour IPA, so yeah. Too much going on with all the fruits in there as well. (I would later have the OG Fantasy Factory and would like it much better.) Peach, Jasmine & Gelatinous Rice . . . Peach though? Maybe North need to have a word with Verdant about this, give few pointers on how they add it without ending up with something you’d put in your window at Christmas. Maybe a better blender? A sieve? Who knows, but the Northern Masters seem to know their fruit. . . Big thanks to Andy for this one, he did me proud and as this was my first ever TFG he broke my cherry. Awwww. Sweet. You always remember your first, and quite frankly I’m punching above my weight with @ipaadventures . . He could definitely do better, but I’m not complaining. . . I’ve got the other TFG in the fridge, but as I learned from this one maybe super hot days aren’t actually the best time for them if you want them to last. This one went down quicker than an unstable wet baby walking on a smooth marble floor, covered in baby oil. Personally I don’t see why we have baby oil. When was the last time you saw a rusty baby? . . This was a fruit explosion, tarter than Scottish grapefruit dressed in tartan, fruitier than Carmen Miranda’s headwear. . . It’s too hot to write more, but consider me a convert to the TFG fanbase. If only they came in two pint cans, they might last longer.. . . . . . . . Props once again to @refold for working up an eye-popping wrapper to a jaw-dropping drink.
