Yesterday was hands down one of my fav days, ever! Had the pleasure of going to @versussalon and hanging out with @tress_passings- shared a lot of laughs, fun discussions, and so much knowledge on giving my curls the TLC they deserve. This was my FIRST ever @devacurl cut and I’m so so glad it was by Shells! I’ve never had an experience in a salon like this one and I really left feeling like no one could tell me nothingggg. I get asked a lot about how I keep my curls always looking ’day one’ good. The answer is… I don’t! This is day 1 vs day 4. ⁣ While they are different, they both have their merit. ⁣ I think we often feel like day one curls are the standard and they must always look that level of defined and hydrated. That just isn’t realistic. Moisture is always leaving our hair. Product is always wearing down. Unless you add moisture/product to your hair as days goes on this is inevitable. ⁣ ⁣ Life also needs to be lived. We have to work or go to school. We have to sleep. Some of us work out or have kids. We have wind, rain and all the other environmental factors to contend with. Expecting each subsequent day after wash day to be just as stellar as wash day, isn’t pragmatic. ⁣ Now, there are things you can do to help. Sleeping in a buff, finding a way to protect your hair while working out, and finding a refresh method you love (I suggest checking out @brunettewithbounce and @marisascurls ) will all help a ton.⁣ ⁣ I personally rarely refresh or add anything to my hair at all. I like the evolution. I wear my hair in a ponytail at least 5x a week because I work out. I’m on recess duty, at the ball field with my 3 boys constantly and only wear my buff on nights 1-2. ⁣ ⁣ Don’t be afraid to embrace your curls all the way. Everyday may not be that day one standard, but they’re alive and living.. Just like you.
