When we opt for medicine we do not take it as our career,rather we choose medicine to serve humanity. Patients health is our utmost priority. We are always available to help those in need. The day we get admission in medical school,a new life begins for us.The first oath that we take upon entering the profession is: "A physician shall uphold the dignity and honour of his profession." And the first declaration we make is "I solemnly pledge myself to consecrate my life to service of humanity." ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Its a five year struggle, when our friends are getting jobs and finally moving towards the earning class , we are still ranting and talking about our next date for viva , when young women are getting married , we are still married to our thick books . when our families are going on vacations , we are usually stuck back with that wretched 36 hour shift , when some of you talk about your retirement plans we don't know if our feet have even been landed on the ground in our profession , the journey is long and its uncertain as hell! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It is very hurtful when patients blame us if we protest for out rights that is being unpaid for months and working 27/7/365. We sacrifice our social life and personal interests. We also need to support our families. We also have a house rent to pay for. We also have electricity bills to pay.We are humans before doctors. Why people don’t take us as Humans? Why we don’t get support from a common man when we fight for our rights? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Today is international Doctors day , and its sad that I am not cheered or chirpy over the fact that the day is about me , these past days have had a toll on me , emotionally and physically , its takes courage to stand up everyday and ask from the authorities who are pretending to have been out cold in a limitless slumber , I want to be done with it so that I can happily celebrate myself again ! I felt it , the sudden anxiety , the sneakish excitement and the chaotic rapid movement of my heartbeats, I was endlessly searching for my name in the admission list and I found it , the name that was going to carry my mothers dreams , my fathers virtue , it was there waiting to change, from it to Dr.... Soon ! Somewhere between that orientation day and graduation day I learned to find happiness in weirdest of things , when a prolonged first year announced it examination dates it was a relief , when a friend came out of the classroom and whispered " lag gayi proxy " , I said thankGod, The result list that gave us arythmia at first and then sedation the second because I cleared made me run for a party . Life in KMDC wasn't easy there were times when I wanted to squeeze the life out of backstabbers , professors and books and just transform into deep deep slumber however It also shaped me such that I got back up again every time I fell ,the sad always brought happy, there was always light after dark , random plans nudged me to peace , studies and nighters taught me time , hospital rotations, endless walking made me healthy and living my dream made me thankful at every turn , at every nook and corner of this building , KMDC made me strong !
