The cool change is lovely here in Melbourne - just the weather to scope out a nice spot, sit with your fave tea and reflect on the past year.
If you haven't already you can find your free copy of our Mindful Reflection Guide on our Facebook page (/MindfulInMay) or via ow.ly/GfLeL

The happy ones choose happiness. @anorakja at the @jamaicanmommies Picnic and Family Day of Play!
Spoke to a graduating class today on the topic of "The change begins with me" and it was truly a free flowing conversation because every bit of advice I shared is personally tried tested and true. #DoingAndBeing #HappyPlace #HappyIsAsHappyDoes ❣
Dropping this here in light of 5 planets retrograde + Chiron retrograde (maybe you think of Chiron as a planet, I don't know where I land with that yet). Slowness and Stillness have negative connotations in our culture, but they are helpful, useful, and purposeful when we remember that we can't be DOing all the time. It's not sustainable or natural to be constantly on the go (ask your nervous system about that). We have built in time for rest in our cycles (menstrual, moon, seasonal, planetary-all the cycles). It's up to us to do the hard work of BEing. To go within and dream. To sit in quiet reflection. To glean wisdom from recent lessons. To surrender in stillness in order to prepare for the next cycle. Go slow, loves.

The other day I got a question from one of my students:
Ulrica -why do we humans set ourselves up with so many tasks? I paused and took in her question for a while and said that I believe it is because we can and sometimes have to in order to survive.
It is because we must try our tools out and also test our potential and meet our abilities. The overdoing comes from identifying with an idea that you are more worth if you push or have more.
We come to this plane of consciousness to live and understand more about life each day we live it. We get challenged and frustrated and we get happy and meet gain. All in a big mix. It's Evolution. On this note I wish to share some wise and well pondered words from the Talmud: " You come here to do certain specific things.
You may have one task or many.
Your tasks may be obvious to you. or you may need time, effort, maybe struggle even to clarify your tasks.
You may never quite even clarify your task until the moment your time in this body ends.
You may work on your task for years before you realize, “This is my task.” The tasks you came to perform may take the whole of your life or be done in an instant.
You may be aware you are performing your life task while you do it.
You may perform your task quickly, hardly noticing anything special, unaware you are doing the task you came to do while you do it.
Your task may be so easy, obvious and natural, you never even wonder, "What is my task?" Your unique blend of talents and interests may lead you to your task and you just do it.
Or, your task may be a constant, unpleasant struggle you fight every step of the way.
Your task may be noble and wonderful and gain you recognition, rewards and honors.
Or, it may be simple, totally unnoticeable by anyone else. "

Do you have plans for relaxation this weekend?
. . .
Sometimes relaxation is actually harder than it sounds. Many of us fall into the mindset of “once I get x done/figured out/fixed/behind me, then I can relax.” But, inevitably, something else comes along to keep us going, and the goal post moves. Ease becomes an elusive idea, something that we might reach out there in the future.
. . .
We can (and should!) do things to move our lives in a good direction, but here’s the thing: we don’t control the outcome of our actions. There can be some relief in understanding that we really aren’t in control!
. . .
This doesn’t let us off the hook for doing what needs to be done. It’s not a message of passivity or futility or apathy. Just a humble recognition that we’re doing our best, and we can let go AS we go.
. . .
Have a great weekend!

Oxford Real Farming Conference.. So much to learn, and to share... A great way to start the farming year, with energy, hope, and some fun thrown in too.. With a thousand different people representing such diverse sectors of the 'progressive' food and farming spheres.. There is bound to be conflict of interest, and difference of approach in some areas.. But sharing ideas, techniques, and experiences in an honest way, and hearing them also, in an accepting, non judgemental mindset, is key to working together... This is one reason perhaps, why, the agroecological approach is building, in both practice, and recognition.. The total unshakeable certainties of the prescriptive, narrow, mechanistic minded, industrialised agriculture approach is falling away, as it must, for it is against the nature of things... For so long we have been told that our 'alternative' approach is 'unrealistic' by the 'conventional' world of farming, and commerce ... But imagining that we can 'do' food production, nourishment of communities, and care of our planet, by putting short term monetary profit, and endless growth, front and centre, is surely the least "realistic" approach on our finite planet... There is much to be done, alliances to be built, skills and knowledge to be shared, continuously...There are many ways of knowing, doing, and being.
But at the end of the day we must all dance together... Yes we will trip over our own feet, bump up against each other. not always be keeping the same time.. But this is the nature of humans, and the humanity of nature.
Keep on learning, keep on growing, keep on dancing and laughing... Take others with you on the journey... Be humble about what you do, and your speck-like significance in the bigger picture, but also be proud of your contribution, how everso small you might feel it to be
