SERVICE.
One of our core values is SERVICE and giving back to the communities we live and work in. That’s tough to do as a start up when profits are measured in nickels some days. One way we do that is through our Emergency Blanket SAR Team Matching Program, but we want to do more.
Even in the middle of this steamy summer, winter is approaching and an idea that keeps ringing in our ears is “How can we use our knowledge and gear to help those less fortunate?” The idea is starting to look like this. We’ll use the same model as our SAR Blanket program. YOU designate the organization, Salvation Army, homeless shelter, church or other organization that will use these blankets to help those in their darkest days. We didn’t want to exploit the situation, so didn’t use pictures to tear jerk, but you know the deal when that first winter storm bears down on your city or town, we envision these agencies being able to distribute Dragoon Gear to provide a little relief from the wind, the rain/snow or rain.
You buy a bundle and they get a bundle.
It’s not huge, but it’s what we can do right now.
What are your thoughts? Would you support this personally? What organizations do you think would be interested in this kind of outreach?

FIELD TESTED.
When we started this company, I made a commitment not to sell you something I wouldn’t use myself. To that end, we field test all of our equipment before we decide to put it on the market. This means sometimes a piece of gear doesn’t make the cut. We won’t sell you junk and stand 100% behind our products, because we use them too.
We also know sometimes things happen along the way, so that’s why if you get a piece of gear that isn’t up to our exacting standards, tell us and we’ll fix it. I guarantee it!
We hope you have a great weekend planned and we hope you take some Dragoon Gear along with you. If not, there has never been a better time to stop over on Amazon and check us out.
We’ll see you down the trail soon! - Team Dragoon

This is Part 2 of a two part post. This is a tale of two sporks we want to offer you for your next adventure. They are both incredibly lightweight, super strong and dependably durable. We want to hear from you to honor our commitment to be your partner on your next adventure.
They are both made from titanium, weight 21 grams and come in their own cloth bag to keep them clean and protect your gear. They are 6.5 inches long.. The differences. One has polished ends and has a serrated edges on one side of the fork. The serration is completely unnoticeable for eating, but it does have some applications for lightweight cutting of food. It will cost about a dollar more to make (more work involved). Other than that, they are identical in every way.
They will list for about $13 on Amazon. We need your help to them launched and ranked, so we can keep giving back to you and to community service organizations like the USO and SAR Teams. We are going to offer special pricing for the first thirty days to all of our followers. Probably $10 flat. Will you support Team Dragoon and order at this special price?
If you didn’t see Part 1, go back and check it out. We learned something new this week. Apollo is still teaching us new tricks after fifty years. Another thing Apollo taught us is to listen to the guys using the equipment. We have a few more products coming your way, so please help us get it right.
Don’t forget our “Apollo 11 Man on the Moon” promo going on right now. Get a DU Ferro Rod and a 5-Pack Emergency Thermal Blanket Bundle for $20 when you order both on Amazon.
What are your thoughts?
Which one will you buy?

Well, that’s a wrap!
Comment and tell us what you found most interesting about the Apollo program or learned from these posts.
After 8 days, 3 hours, 18 minutes, 35 seconds Apollo 11 splashed down occurred on July 24th, 1969. Fifty years later, our world has never been the same. If you were born after this event like I was (barely), you’ve never known a time when man looked up at the moon and only imagined standing on it, wondering what it was made of or what wonders of the far side of it beheld (we at least learned it wasn’t made from cheese). Our world, the things we use daily and our view of our place in the universe has never been the same.
We hope you’ve enjoyed this little deviation from our normal material and we’ll get back to bushcraft, survival and outdoors adventures tomorrow, but we also hoped you learned a little (we learned a LOT), maybe shared a little with your family and generally enjoyed the sense of awe and adventure of those eight days in space!
Our sale goes until midnight tonight, so we sure would appreciate you putting a little Dragoon Gear in your kit today. Be ready for life’s next adventure!
We really had fun doing them and want to make sure they weren’t too off topic for you.

We wanted to demonstrate the all-weather versatility of our fire steel ferro rod. Since Texas weather has not cooperating with rain, we decided to set up a little demonstration using a sprayer and a camp stove.
First, we set the sprayer up to maintain a full stream/mist on the stove and then let it get really wet and soaked. The burner head was completely swamped with water.
Next, we simply turned on the fuel, made sure our ferry rod was wiped off and lit up the flame.
Now, try that with a match or a lighter.
We promise, next time it rains, we’ll get outside and do a proper demo.

July 20th, 1969 man first stepped on the moon. We were able to see a bright shining moon last night and had to pause for a moment in awe and wonder. What an incredible achievement it was then and continues to be to this day.
Take a moment this evening, go look at the moon and imagine how amazing it would be to stand for just a moment in that place. “Here men from the planet Earth first set foot on the moon—July 1969 A.D.—We came in peace for all mankind.” #dragoonunlimited #SAR #USA #NASA #searchandrescue #bushcraftcanada #shtf #camping #texassar #survival #hiking #wilderness #scouting #traillife #bushcraft #preppercolony #survival_movement #endurebushcraft #campfire #mountainman #bugoutbag #bushcraft #alaskaadventures #hunting #deerhunting #biggamehunting #salmonfishing
Shelter from Heat
Most people do not think of our Dragoon Emergency Blankets during hot weather, but this is EXACTLY the time of year you should keep them available in your pack and vehicles.
1. Do not remove clothing. Keep head covered. As you find/make shelter, move slowly to avoid excessive perspiration and dehydration. Stretch tarp, blanket over her head. Do not stay in car, enclosed tent that restricts air circulation.
2. If no tarp or blanket is available for shelter, find shade under brush, shady side of car, boulder, or ledges.
3. Try not to sit or lie directly on hot ground, which is usually much hotter than the air temperature. Above or below ground is desirable. Sit or lie on brush, packs or another improvised elevation, preferably with air circulation underneath.
4. If travel is essential, move only during evening, morning hours or during the moonlit night.
5. Best way to stay in shelter, put out aerial marker, prepare to signal. Leave shelter only if you know precisely where to go, the length of the journey, and the limits of your strength and water supply.

Preparedness isn’t about one event, it’s about being ready for any event. The link below gives a good checklist for being ready for a disaster.
We recommend creating the capacity to sustain yourself and your family for a minimum of two weeks without electricity, water or outside fuel sources.
