Drying Flowers!I picked some flowers for drying this morning. Echinops, tansy, yarrow, roses, lilies, eucalyptus, poppy pods, and rose of sharon. I know almost all of these will dry well and can be used in my wreaths. I'm not sure how the rose of sharon or lilies will turn out but I'm gonna try. What I do is strip all the bottom leaves off, tie the bunches together at the ends and hang then upside down in a dark, dry, cool room. You can hang them on the wall or from the ceiling. I use a clothes drying rack which works great. I tie them with rubber bands and use shower hooks for the hangers. I put them in my studio, which is in the basement where I have a dehumidifier running. No humidity is key, if you hang them where there is alot of moisture it will cause your flowers to get moldy and that's no good. Being in the dark will also allow them to dry with the best color. It usually takes about 7 to 10 days to be completely dry depending on the flowers.
