One thing that's even more impressive about this athlete is that he was a remote trainee. He came in for his assessment before returning home to train and carryout his programming remotely.

How to throw 100mph

JBJ’s #100mphformula
✅Bodyweight:height ratio
✅Long toss 400+ feet
❓3x bw deadlift
❓2.5x bw reverse lunge
❓250lb chin-up and 13 bw reps

We know there is a strong correlation between bodyweight and throwing velocity. @jackiebradleyjr’s bodyweight:height ratio is well within the numbers I believe to be optimal (2.86 for him). He also has the long toss portion down, which is arguably the most important aspect of the formula.

Having never worked with JBJ, I don’t know his strength metrics, but I’d guess the chin-up metrics would be very doable for him. I’d be interested to see his lunge and deadlift.

When looking at the #90mphformula or the #100mphformula notice we are just manipulating physics. Bodyweight (momentum potential) and long toss are going to be our best indicators for ability to throw .

We can argue about the efficacy of #longtoss or #runandgun, but they are just forms of throwing that can highlight inefficiencies and potential. Look at the intent from JBJ’s in game throw, he leaves his feet. That my friends is max effort.

Let’s say your lunge is
Your lower body programming may include split squats, step-ups, sumo deadlifts, and hill sprints. We may not be directly training reverse lunges in this phase but your lunge numbers will likely go up because of the exercise choices we have made.

Differences between the 90 and 100mphformula
The 90mphformula has been tested on hundreds of athletes without a single athlete hitting the formula not able to throw 90mph.
The 100mphformula is more theoretical at this point. These numbers are based on physics and training our athletes (we have some that can hit many of the metrics). From my current perspective, the numbers of this formula are targets that take risk factors for injury off the table as well as give you the size and strength to throw 100mph.
