they are so in love i’m- anyway not that anyone asked but here are my thoughts on the latest druck clip.
there should have been a trigger warning and if it brought up bad memories for anyone make sure to take care of yourself and do whatever you feel like is best for your mental health. if that means not watching druck for a while that’s more than understandable. for me skam is one of the only shows that portrays issues realisticly and doesn’t sugar coat while also always remaining respectful and aesthetically pleasing. the thing that bothered me was that before this scene everything that had happened with david felt like it was on his own terms and druck has been doing such a great job at normalizing being transgender. this last clip of ep. 8 made david a victim and that sucks because pretty much the only representation trans people get on tv is always them being victims and always their story being told from other(cis) people’s perspective. BUT at the same time it is important to be realistic in order to raise awareness and educate and at the end of the day in life shit isn’t always on your own terms because other people will always influence u and your life. for me it wasn’t a scene that was necessary since druck is already changing the game, however it has potential to make druck even more powerful because it makes people see that their words have an impact and also because in the next 2 episodes there is going to be a LOT of support for david and that just emphasizes the message of skam. fear spreads but fortunately love does too. alt er love. (also one thing last night‘s clip definitely did was make people talk, a lot more than all the other episodes, im thankful for that)
