I’m not the first to collage the doors of Dublin and won’t be the last . In fact, there’s sort of a “sub culture” around the doors of Dublin, when a poster featuring the doors of Dublin in a collage format like this (except better ) appeared in an Irish Tourism Office in NYC The poster, featuring some of the most famous doors from Dublin’s Georgian squares (Fitzwilliam and Merrion), became so popular that the manager of the Irish Tourism board commissioned the poster . According to legend, Dublin’s iconic doors are were painted in separate, bright colors by women so that their drunk husbands would be able to differentiate their house when coming home in a different state of mind from the bar-typical Irish legend . Probably more accurately, the doors were simply painted in the Georgian era to differentiate the properties themselves, as the houses in the Georgian quarter have similar architecture. . This is my attempt, consisting of some of the doors I’ve snapped over the last 10 months in Dublin.
