To my one and only little girl who always there at my lowest point, who loves to make my day with her silly jokes, who cares about others more than herself, i would love to nominate one purplish box to my babygirl, @zaimahzafirah . Honestly, I have just learned that February 1 is the #worldhijabday! What a beautiful idea, to make women of all religions and backgrounds to wear and experience the hijab for at least one day. This gesture of emphaty could help hijab to stop being seen as a sign of oppression and backwardness rather than ultimate manifestation of spiritual freedom and progress! . . And kudos to @theduckgroup for reiterating this beautiful idea with their #duckitforward campaign! . . Five years ago Nazma Khan started #worldhijabday movement after realizing she had to take action against the discrimination faced by many women who wore scarves. She reached out to women she knew and on February 1st 2013, they started World Hijab Day - women in 67 countries, regardless of race and religion wore hijab on that day and learned more about Islam. It's a powerful message of erasing the boundaries between the choices we make as women who cover and those who don’t, and recognising that all of us are beautiful and have the right to be accepted regardless of our religious backgrounds.
