While the HEAT have strong interest in trading for Bradley Beal, Wizards vice president/basketball operations Tommy Sheppard told The Athletic that Washington has given no thought to trading Beal.

According to sources, there is sentiment inside the the Heat to take the final four years and $171 million of injured point guard John Wall’s contract if it would allow Miami to land Beal, who is eligible for free agency in the summer of 2021. But Washington appears unwilling to do that at this time. Would you take on Wall if you could get Beal?

On top of wanting 2 out of 3 of Miami’s young guys (Adebayo, Winslow & Herro), the Thunder also requested that Miami take the expiring contract of guard Andre Roberson, who hasn’t appeared in an NBA game in nearly 18 months because of a patellar tendon injury. Roberson is due $10.7 million next season in an expiring contract.

Also because OKC owns Miami’s unprotected pick in 2021, the Thunder had incentive for the Heat to be bad in the 2020-21 season, according to a longtime league executive. So the Thunder wanted to weaken the Heat as much as possible by insisting on acquiring young assets such as Herro and Winslow.
