Tuesday traditions. Having city kids means we walk or ride most places. We play on the footpath, find patches of grass, and stop twenty seven million times along the way to look at nature (or to pick up bottles for our weekly @returnandearnnsw visit).
Today, Bear searched for the “biggest leaf in the universe”. She saw a dead magpie on the road and said “Mumma, it’s so sad that it died from eating rubbish.” I explained to her that the bird probably didn’t die from eating rubbish, but I love that she understands how many animals do die from eating plastic. We then walked home as she insisted we pick every bottle top and other random bit of littler out of the gutter. I love my little eco warrior rainbow ballerina.

How it is sometimes
.
Avoiding plastic can seem easy at first.
.
But the more aisles we walk down and the more trips to the store we take, all with that time-crunch of the week weighing on us - we realize it’s harder than it seems
.
Convenience can be just too easy sometimes when life gets hectic.

What’s your favorite way to stay on track during a busy week?!

As you reduce clutter and quantity of toys in the playroom, you increase the ability for deep meaningful play, allowing more focus and attention on toys that may have been ignored in a clutter of chaos ☺️ it also aids a more stress free environment by decreasing visual clutter and encourages tidying up after play! Do you use toy rotation?

I’ve been wanting to try this technique of printing with flowers using a hammer on some fabric for ages but I know Spencer wouldn’t have been interested before. Today he saw a picture of an art activity on and old craft box we have and asked me if we could do an activity so I explained this flower hammering one and asked if he was interested, he was very keen and took the lead helping gather supplies and deciding where we would sit outside and set up. He needed no prompting when we searched our garden for flowers, it was just lovely and no fuss. In the past I would set up activities and surprise him with them, sometimes he loved them but often he was uninterested. Now my approach to our days are much more free play and child led. Involving him in the plan and the decision of what we were doing made it a lot more enjoyable for all of us.
