His winning mechanic is something at Train2point0 we call the Soft Drag. The soft drag is when you unweight one of your legs while riding your inside edge and drag your toe on your other skate which allows you to cut sharper while staying balanced. Watch in this clip as we take it back to his AJHL days as he goes double soft drag which is what causes the defensemen to cross his feet, exposing him to get beat. Pay attention to his footwork on the move, combined with the real aggressive blade angle.
