#CGJung’s The Black Books soon to be published by Norton and released to the public. I got the rare opportunity to view the originals in person! What an interesting time for the family to have chosen to finally publish. It was wild to see his handwritten #grimoire where he organized much of his #alchemical musings of Self and #AnimaMundi with references as well as physics, body work, #typology, and #archetypal #astrology. See more info below! ___ “The publication in 2009 of #LiberNovus, #CarlJung’s #TheRedBook, has justly been regarded as a cultural event of historical significance. The publication enabled a new reading of Jung that is just beginning, based for the first time on primary documentation of the most critical creative phase in Jung’s life. The Black Books, from 1913 to 1932, in a facsimile edition, accompanied by translation, introduction and notes, will be published in collaboration with the Foundation of the Works of C. G. Jung. The edition is being edited by #SonuShamdasani, translated by Martin Liebscher, John Peck and Shamdasani and will be published by W. W. Norton. The text of The Red Book draws on material from The Black Books — 1913 -1932. Approx. 50% of the text of The Red Book derives directly from these books, with very light editing and reworking. The Black Books are not personal diaries but the records of the unique self-experimentation that Jung called his ‘confrontation with the unconscious.’ He did not record day-to-day happenings or outer events but his #activeimagination and depictions of his mental states together with his reflections on these. The material that Jung did not include in The Red Book is of equal interest to the material that he did include. The Black Books shed light on Jung’s ‘confrontation with the unconscious,’ for which they are the prime documentation, as well as the genesis of The Red Book, the further elaboration of Jung’s personal #cosmology, and the making of #analyticalpsychology.” ___ #depthpsychology#physics#jungian#innerwork#mysticism#shadowwork#alchemy#consciousmind#individuation#asabovesobelow#knowthyself#synchronicity#occult#gnosticism#hermeticism#spiritualbooks

THE ILLUMINATED IMAGINATION: THE ART OF #CGJUNG @ UCSB is up until 4/28 —— For the entire reel check out the highlight—Art of Jung—on my profile. Be sure to cycle through past the opening video to see The Red Book and more. I feel very fortunate to be attending @pacificapost during this exhibit; a once in a lifetime viewing of #CarlJung’s #visionaryart and #imaginal process. Seeing #theRedBook and The Black Book(next post!) in person was surreal. Also on display were each of the painted images from The Red Book as well as detailed graphite drawings and sculptures. My favorite was still his stone block at Bolligen that he hand carved with #alchemical poetry and the symbol of the orphan of #individuation. I was also particularly drawn to the last photo here titled Imagination of Spring (1920). This is my bliss and I was overjoyed to get to experience this work in person with my beloved cohort facilitated by our professor Dr. Yakushko, a fellow #jungian analyst, and her mythologist partner. Sharing this big moment with you all. ——— #depthpsychology#psychoanalysis#jungianpsychology#analyticalpsychology#greekmythology#innerself#shadowwork#innerwork#mysticism#hermeneutics#occult#existentialism#phenomenology#consciousness#consciousmind#unconscious#depthwork#synchronicity#gnosticism#alchemy#selfactualization#soulwork

Continued thanks @collabcreatedc !! The story of my art: . #Repost @collabcreatedc ・・・ We've never come across a company with such an interesting intersectional purpose.  Haus of Jung founder Natalia (@naty_tea) shares how it started, "Haus of Jung was established from the intersection of my two backgrounds, Psychology and Fashion. The brand was launched to create a reality that caters to the needs of my Psyche, or Spirit, as inspired by Depth Psychologist, Carl Jung. Previous resistance against my artist spirit was too impactful. Leather craft is my form of healing." We love how intentional she is about incorporating her personal needs with her business in a very up front way. Haus of Jung offers handmade leather accessories to customize your lifestyle. And makes fanny packs look really effing cool. In fact, the search for a perfect fanny pack is what started it! When she couldn't find one, Natalia changed her whole life around and enrolled in fashion school (after completing her graduate degree in psychology) so she could create what she desired. She loves being able to offer people customized goods, and give them the realities they envision. After that, Natalia's craft migrated to DC from Brooklyn, New York. Although the core of her business developed in NYC, she's grateful to find many new outlets and open doors for her work here in DC. After a few months of living here, she started searching for pop-ups online and came across Femme Fatale. She says, "I was beyond excited to find this particular heartbeat in the area!" and reached out and applied immediately. Natalia feels that @femmefataledc supports the unique, individual paths and new stories each artist is carving out in the world. And that aligns with why @hausofjung exists: to inspire new realities to those who seek it. Dream Collabs: Making something for Marina Abramovic +@repdebhaaland after having explored their innermost accessory-related needs and desires For Fun: If I'm leaving home - likely driving to @jungsocietyofwashington (where I volunteer as a librarian), going to free my spirit through dance to some house music at @flashclubDC or hanging out with my queers at @pitchersDC

#PatrickHarpur—The Philosopher’s Secret Fire ___ “Students of #alchemy are often bewildered by the mass of contradictions in the recipes. We read that our sulphur is a fixed body and, in the next breath, a volatile spirit; or that our mercury is at one moment water, at the next, fire.At every 'circulation', the pairs of elements rearrange themselves such that the analogy which applies to the stage of Calcination, say, is reversed at Separation.A mythology, we recall, goes on permutating its elements and generating variants of its constituent myths until it is imaginatively exhausted whereupon it springs up again in a different guise. The alchemical myth seems largely to have exhausted itself in Europe by the end of the 17thCE, but it reappeared as #CGJung realized, as the #psychology of the unconscious. He also noted that the overall aim of mythology, though never quite realized, is similar to alchemy in its seeking to reunite the opposites. Its symbol of reunion is the Stone in which all the pairs of elements are ravelled up in a grand marriage. No matter how unattainable the goal, the Work absolutely has a #purpose in the way that all deep imaginative activity has not so much a fixed goal as a volatile Way.Alchemy is always going on whether we know it or not.It is the movement of the mythopoeic imagination itself. The alchemist merely collaborates with, and accelerates, the movement just as an artist does.In his struggle to transform the world he is also transforming himself, making his own soul.Authentic art always entails initiation, both for the artist and his client. It can only be made by the Self's imagining and never by what sometimes looks like this—the self-serving fantasies of the ego.Artists understand alchemy as it aligns with the long struggle with intransigent materials, the fusing of subject—object in the fire of imagination, the synchronous mirroring of inner—outer worlds. We are all prey to leaden #archetypal despair; mercurial mood swings, sulphurous rage, blocked fixities and manic volatilizations, the blackness of #depression, and to #dreams of lacerating beasts, revelatory light ladies and a wise golden child—the fillius philosophorum... But the spirit of the depths said: "No one can or should halt sacrifice. Sacrifice is not destruction; sacrifice is the foundation stone of what is to come. Have you not had monasteries? Catafalque - #PeterKingsley ___ "Dreams especially the big dreams, never depict life linearly. They dance around, then back on themselves in spirals. When Jung was reminded in his Kolkata dream of the need to find the healing vessel of #theHolyGrail he was being reminded of what he already knew.Jung wrote and lectured on the symbolism of the Grail as it reaches back past the #alchemists into the #Gnostic and #Hermetic traditions of antiquity. He traced it straight back to the symbol of the kratêr, an old Greek word for the mysterious mixing-bowl that #initiates threw themselves into to be reborn, transformed.10yrs prior to the Kolkata dream he playfully if unsubtly hinted that this kratêr was the psychological work he did with his patients.Just as the only way for a knight to discover the Grail was by becoming it, and just as the only way to serve the servator mundi is inwardly to be the saviour and protector of the world, so the one and only way to make the kratêr work is by becoming the receptive kratêr oneself.Jung envisaged the entire “prehistory of his psychology”—meaning the history of #JungianPsychology before #CarlJung appeared on the scene—as embodied in one single symbol--the kratêr.Just the same way that he came to equate the mystery of the Grail with the secret of #individuation and would see it as his central task to recover the abandoned Grail vessel, he had discovered in the Gnostic vessel of the kratêr the primordial symbol of his own psychology. He made sure to trace this quintessential symbol of the kratêr even further than the Gnostic and Hermetic circles of antiquity. From the very first time that he ever refers to the kratêr of #rebirth, he specifically connects it with the name of one particular person: Empedocles. As a student, he was fascinated with the legend of Empedocles who died in Sicily by climbing the crater of Mount Etna—then throwing himself into the volcano so he could become immortal, be reborn as a god.The symbol was now the crater of a magnificent volcano seething with lava and water and fire--one of the most terrifying examples on earth of mother nature's utterly inhuman power to destroy, transform, give birth." I didn’t know Carl Jung was an artist. I didn’t know the largest danger in the transformation of consciousness is the possibility of ego-inflation when you over identifify with transpersonal events. A Jungian oriented therapist like Dmitri @SpiralProcessTherapy can help you recognize the risk so you can not only deal with a sound path to individuation but I believe it’s a catalyst to psychic growth and development. Dmitri was my friend and mentor as an intern. Individuation is a natural process where your unconscious becomes integrated into your whole personality after being conscious. In Depth Psychology they use active imagination, free association, and means of dreams for your unconscious to be assimilated into your whole personality. Carl Jung - The Red Book. “My soul, where are you? Do you hear me? I speak, I call you - are you there? I have returned, I am here again. I have shaken the dust of all the lands from my feet, and I have come to you, I am with you. After long years of long wandering, I have come to you again. Should I tell you everything I have seen, experienced, and drunk in? Or do you not want to hear about all the noise of life and the world? But one thing you must know: the one thing I have learned is that one must live this life. Do you still know me? How long the separation lasted! Everything has become so different. And how did I find you? How strange my journey was! What words should I use to tell you on what twisted paths a good star has guided me to you? Give me your hand, my almost forgotten soul. How warm the joy at seeing you again, you long disavowed soul. Life has led me back to you. Let us thank the life I have lived for all the happy and all the sad hours, for every joy, for every sadness. My soul, my journey should continue with you. I will wander with you and ascend to my solitude.”
