"Just trying to meet expectations! A smiling... dependable... cool hero... That's what I wanna be! That's why I'm giving it everything! For everyone!" . . I've been meaning to make a post like this for a while, and hitting the 500 follower count milestone has managed to motivate me to sit down and write it all out. . . . Deku was a cosplay that came together from the cosplay community's willingness to share their knowledge and passion with others, and I am forever in their debt. . . WIG I decided that if I was going to do Deku, I wanted to do something over the top, that screamed 'anime hair.' I started with an @ardawigs Hansel and Short Ponytail clip in Pure White and used advice from @gunplaladycosplay to dye the wig to my desired color. I styled it using @xheeheex tried-and-true method of steaming the wig upside down to attain maximum floof. It was the first wig I dyed and styled from scratch, and I'm so happy with how it came out. . . MASK The mask was 3d printed by @pyopshop. I didn't have any real experience working with 3d printed props, but @kyami_rin was super sweet and gave me excellent advice. . . MAKEUP @izo_cosplay deserves to be mentioned as well because I used her freckle tutorial for my Deku, and it worked perfectly for what I had in mind! Also, they dont even realize it, but my eye makeup was heavily inspired by @ryn.dex. I never would have thought to go with red/pink eyeshadow if it wasn't for them. . . SUIT Not much of a surprise, but I used @brandonogilberto 's design. I'm absolutely obsessed with his use of lighting and highlights. I always feel so confident about my body in his suits, and it's a wonderful thing. . . When I really sat down to think about all the people who helped me with this cosplay, knowingly or not, it really moved me. I love the fact that this community has the ability to come together and share knowledge without expecting anything in return. I love that we're all just a bunch of nerds playing dress up and helping each other to be the best we can be. I got into cosplay later in life than a lot of others, but it was one of the best decisions I ever made. . . @ohtalku
