He’s home. He’s all ours for 16 whole days! I hate the idea of wishing time away, but when he’s in school throughout the week Ellis, Margot, and I miss having him home! So we live for the weekends, the half terms, and the summer/Christmas holidays and make the absolute most of whatever it is we do during that time - from days at home, to full blown days out! We don’t have much planned, but I’m so very excited to just have us all home together - they’ll both be his shadow for the entire 16 days (and I will, too!). This is our last half term before we become a family of five

I have had so many questions about our art supplies lately, I thought I’d repost this post I made last year about the supplies we use. The only recent addition to this is that my Fourth Grader received a tin of lovely Lyra Rembrandt Polycolour pencils (72) for Christmas and a beautiful hand crafted wooden pencil holder. ** repost** I’ve had a lot of questions lately about the Waldorf homeschool supplies we use, specifically what brands they are and where people can purchase them from. I have sourced all of our supplies either locally from @lyrebirdsteinerinspired, a wonderful Waldorf store in our little town, or online from (Australia) @honeybeetoys and @mercuriusaustralia. If you are purchasing homeschool supplies in person or online, definitely mention you are home-educating as all of the Waldorf stores are very supportive of Steiner homeschoolers ❤️ • Most of the supplies we use are standard in Waldorf school: The modelling beeswax, liquid watercolour paints and the lower row of block crayons are all Stockmar brand. We use the standard primary Stockmar 6 pack of liquid watercolours (carmine red, vermillion, golden yellow, lemon yellow, ultramarine, and prussian blue) • The upper row of crayons are @filanacrayons, the lower Stockmar beeswax • ✏️ We use Superferby Lyra triangular pencils (which I prefer over Stockmar Giants, though both are wonderful) • The main lesson books and the gorgeous wooden paint pot holders and glass jars are a available from most Waldorf supply store (including online ones such as @bellalunatoys in the US and @tanglewoodtoys in NZ ), as are the watercolour brushes we use. • The ink pen brand is Greenfields and we purchased a reusable cartridge for our ink pen to reduce waste We bought ours locally @lyrebirdsteinerinspired but I believe @spiralgarden also stock these too • Our wooden painting boards and the crayon holder are both homemade. The painting boards we made from marine grade ply. We store our beeswax in a wooden tea box • While our crayon holder is homemade, @folkwoodstudio makes them in Australia and @treasuresfromjennifer in the US ❤️ I hope that is useful to others ❤️

Creating an Art Learning Corner • I’ve honestly been procrastinating for the longest time on setting up an art learning corner for T. The idea of paint and other art materials potentially spilling everywhere in the house is kind of freaking out the OCD in me . But I truly believe in taking cues from the child when it comes to playing and learning, and T has recently taken such a huge interest in drawing ✍ and coloring that I feel like it’s time we encourage and support his free expression of creativity. • So we spent our Saturday hauling some really awesome stuff from IKEA (yes that white Raskog trolley!) to set up his art learning corner. I really really love what we had done! T hasn’t seen it yet and I’m sooo excited to show it to him. It’s also perfect timing - it’s 3 weeks to the EDD of his little sis, so we’ll probably stay home a lot more these few weeks and it will be great to do some artwork with him! • The art cart fits perfectly next to his writing table (swipe left for last photo). Here’s what we have on the art cart! ✔️In the hanging containers: colored pencils ✏️, crayons , markers. ✔️Top tier: paper, stickers, dot stickers, dot markers, stamp markers, scissors ✂️, glue. ✔️Middle tier: scoops and tongs, tons of loose materials! ✔️Low tier: paint, paint palette , brushes and sponges, paint containers.
